Over the years he's remixed artists ranging from William Orbit to Queen, given sonic signatures to various movies and brands, sold out venues from Tokyo to LA, Moscow to London and forms a central part of his label -the legendary Twisted Music - who's nights have drawn crowds of up to 12,000 in the last year.

After 15 years and 7 albums, Even Tundra is the album Benji Vaughan always wanted to make. Up until now he has hidden behind various guises (such as Younger Brother, Prometheus and The Zap ) and done much of his work with the Godfathers of Psychedelic Electronica - Simon Posford and Raja Ram.

With Even Tundra the time came to remove the mask and avoid taking shelter in any particular scene or genre. He describes making the album as ' like making a folk record - just me, my sound lab and an emotion or atmosphere i wanted to hear - not a dance floor i wanted to fill.'

The result is unique sound collage filled with understated sound manipulation and melodies that should be heard from end to end to fully appreciate.

The project will also feature a video for every track on the album which Benji has also produced himself , and contain some incredible visual techniques. The video for first single 'Even Tundra for example is quite simply astonishing. It looks like CGI when in fact Benji uses industrial magnets and metallic 'Ferrofluid' (a mysterious liquid used to make computer gear that reacts to and forms solid structures on a magnetic field) to create his other worldly effects.

“The ferro fluid video idea came up when I heard about a mysterious liquid used to make computer gear that reacted to and formed a solid based on a magnetic field . I then searched around on YouTube and came across bizarre nerdy videos about ferro fluid and where they described it was a fluid filled with nano particles of iron and they also demonstrated how to film it using dslr cameras and reversed macro lenses. The water color idea just happened on the day of filming as my kids paint set was lying around.
On the day me and twisted's stage manager/ photographer set up a blue Peter-esque micro film studio in my living room and just played around all day filming the fluid react to very strong rare earth magnets and then injecting water color paint with a syringe. The rest was hours of final cut tweaking by me.” BENJI

As we drift into the altered states of consciousness of the dream world, our brain wave patterns lengthens and slows down, changing from beta to alpha, and finally theta. During these stages, we can experience what is known as "hypnogogic" imagery, a series of vivid pictures or surreal imagery that bears little or no relation to waking memories. The imagery doesn't have the narrative quality of most dreams, but consists of a series of shifting and seemingly unconnected pictures that appear as it from nowhere; an animal, a face or a figure, an eye, a swirling rainbow of colors - the variety is infinite. This state, also known as "hypnogogia", occurs in situations where the brain wave pattern slows down such as in daydreams, meditation, and deep concentration. Through training and discipline, some people are able to enter these states at will, and certain plants and herbs have been used to assist the dreamer's entry into a trance-like state. While visions, hallucinations and trance-like states are not the same as a sleep-induced dream, they represent a dream-like experience where the boundaries between normal waking life and another dimension dissolve and merge. In many traditional cultures, the ability to enter a trance consciously and safely is a skill that is cultivated for the good of the wider community. The role of the dreamer is to travel between worlds in search of a vision that can assist himself or advise his or her people.

Helios II - 02 Lift Off

Originally released on Dragonfly Records in 2005, Tripswitch's debut album Circuit Breaker landed to widespread critical acclaim and became recognised as one of the landmark releases of the psy-chill genre, establishing Nick as one of the godfathers of the scene. Tracks from the album were picked up for numerous compilation licenses by the likes of Nick Warren, Jose Padilla and Claude Challe, and continue to be licensed for compilations, TV and film - most recently "Roll Your Own" has been included in the soundtrack to the Bollywood movie "The Blueberry Hunt". 

The first release quickly sold out and 2 years later, by which time copies were changing hands on ebay for as much as $150, Dragonfly re-released it as a double CD package including a completely reworked edition with versions of each track from a clutch of the world's top electronic producers. 

Both original releases were dogged by digital distribution issues and were therefore never available for download in many parts of the world. Section Records inherited and sold off the remaining CD stock in 2010,  and in 2012 re-issued the original 2005 Circuit Breaker album as part of our own digital catalogue. Now in 2013, we're delighted to be able to add Circuit Breaker Rewired to that collection, completing the Tripswitch discography and finally making it available worldwide.

Deep in the heart of the forest, a lonely house rests hidden away from sight. Its neglected state might make it seem as though it were abandoned, but it is home to an old man and a jack-in-the-box. This toy, tattered by age, was once animated by magic, and is now a living companion to the man whom people call “the coin spinner.”

Every night, without fail, a girl wanders to the depths of the forest to visit. Tonight as she approaches the old house, its broken roof illuminated blue by the light of the full moon; she felt as she always did, as if it were from a dream. It seems so close but also so far. As always, the door was left unlocked for her, and as she slowly opens it, a loud creak breaks the silence.

Upon hearing the sound, Jester jumps out of his box and hurries to the door to welcome her. The old man remains at the table spinning his coins, completely entranced by the spinning motion and oblivious to the girl in the doorway. She picks up the little jester toy and embraces it, while closing the door. Walking towards his cube, a barely audible lullaby escapes her lips. She lowers him gently down into the box and coaxes him to sleep with her soft voice. Then, she looks up at the old man and silently watches him as he spins his coins over and over.

Tonight, she suddenly asks him, “What are you looking for, old man?” His hypnotic stare breaks, and his eyes roll towards the girl. “The Truth,” he mumbles in a low voice. “Do you seek it too, little princess?” She shrugs. Looking up through a hole in the roof her big, green eyes gaze up at the bright, blue moon. “Are the moon people still watching us?” The man spins his coin again and waits for it to fall onto one of its sides. The jester, apparently still awake, calls “Heads,” and indeed it is as he said. The coin spinner smiles. “Sorry princess, no tales for you tonight!”

As he starts spinning his coin again, a tear rolls down the girl’s cheek. “Could you please continue the story about the triplets?” she asks with a jittery voice. He heaves a deep sigh and replies, “Oh… Alright.” To his right two books lay on the table and picks up one, blowing off the dust, revealing an elegantly engraved title: “the little match sister” in gold lettering.

He opens the book, and thus the story continues…
