The Agave Line – a beat fantasy: Pointy punchy agave grooves snap to focus as jazz guitar spiders over spires. Transitions levitate from punchy to Wonka bubbly. Choruses cliff dive into synth-party hootenany , frozen Grapefruit and Mezcal, and toasty buzzed guitar-gasm. White Lotus flower flute falls down a curly vine back to the beginning. Repeat with gems. Fantasy end. 2:21 seconds.

The Agave Line

The rubato piano was the centerpiece of the composition and then I glued the beat/sub bass to it. Recording piano first and then the drums gave a nice elasticity to the rhythmic element of the track.

I recorded every instrument in this track – the rhodes and drums via my Korg Kross 2 and the bass part on my Fender Mustang. The arpeggiator is an original patch I built on the Roland SE-02. The rest of the design of the track was created within Logic Pro X with a myriad of VSTs. This track has both Neo-Soul and Jazz influence tucked within a bumpy beat.

Tunnel To Space

"Morning Rays" captures my memories of taking early rides on the subway in NYC. There's peaceful vibes in the city early in the morning, especially when it's sunny and the sun's rays flash your skin through the subway window going over the east river with your deli coffee in hand, airpods jamming to something mellow. I wanted to stretch the limit of "rubato". I performed the drums without a click to intentionally allow elasticity to the tempo and then glued everything to it including the melody.
