Since Richie Hawtin played this track in his Boiler Room Set on Ibiza, many people have been asking about this Joyce Muniz collab. The track features fresh vocals by Bam (formerly known as MC Baby Bam) from the legendary 90ies hip-hop group The Jungle Bothers (Native Tongues/Zulu Nation). The beat is based around a sample from Kraftwerk's 'It's More Fun To Compute,' and for this version we've actually got full approval from Kraftwerk (yes - guess what). So we're happy to release it now. Hope you dig it too.

A real melancholic number with emo arpeggiations sitting at its center, the goldFFinch cut takes on a mood swing with a huge rework from Fur Coat. The Crosstown Rebels cohorts push the affair into a darker, less dramatic area of the underground, as each element they introduce rings with scrupulous intent. It’s a tripped-out tech house tune that’s well deserving of your time.

Premiere: goldFFinch “Unworthy” (Fur Coat Remix)

The fourth of Art Departments Natural Selection remix packages is set to drop in August with the arrival of Crazy. This time, those chosen to add their own unique spin on the huge and still popular original are none other than Jamie Jones and Dennis Ferrer. First up is Jamie Jones, the king of his own much loved musical empire in the form of Hot Creations. As well as being an award winning DJ and producer, he also performs live with Hot Natured and runs his own key night at DC10 in the form of Paradise. Here the Welshman lays down one of his fat trademark basslines and injects trippy, colourful melodies. Classic sounding, airy hi hats and subtly worked vocal patches add plenty of heat and drama to the groove, and a sci-fi breakdown is sure to send the dance floor wild, especially once Jones drums kick once more. On the flipside US musical heavyweight Dennis Ferrer takes the reigns as he delivers his own take on Crazy. The New York based DJ, producer and label owner has truly left his mark on the dance music landscape over the last two decades with his Objektivity imprint kick starting the career of the Martinez Brothers and his own records helping to define house music. Here his remix is an expertly stripped back, shuffling house number that goes deep. Synths spiral around, the bass comes on from way down below and Ferrers treatment of the vocals adds an air of mystery that is genuinely hypnotising

Worst Case aka Tony Casanova & Joshua Jesse's “Rocket” EP comes at us with two hard hitting originals and three reworks anchoring on the talents of some of the finest producers around at the moment.

“Rocket” opens up swiftly with an effervescent bustle, as the groove is slowly built up through ascending synth leads. The ear catching leit-motif though is an insurgent guitar sample, reminiscent of 70s power solos. Despite the overall oldschool flavour of the track, we’re quickly reintroduced to present day soundscapes, as we reach its peak point. Surprisingly enough, the tension is smoothly resolved and the original dynamic is reverted.

Centered on a setup of layered vocals, “General Opinion” offers an upbeat groove from the get go, bolstered by a carefully crafted array of ascending whizzes, tribal roars and clattering bells. Distant cut-outs of the vocals create a spacious and relaxed outro, unwinding to a full stop.

US sound traveler Clint Steward revamps “Rocket”, building up anticipation through percussive slabs. Promptly triggered cavernous bass snippets enthrall and intrigue, as the ambiance morphs into that of an otherwordly sonic journey.

Niko Schwind injects his trademark oomph, giving “Rocket” some extra boost. Balancing sharp chops with subversive synth detonations, the piece gains even more fire to fuel the dancefloor.
From the other side of the globe, Aussie Murat Kilic reshapes the audio storyline in “General Opinion” to a progressive, uplifting affair peppered with sunken ringers. Still playing upon a vocal sample from the original cut, the track shows off a jagged edge, displaying a deeper and darker version rendition of the latter.

The talented DJ and Producer ShoSho has appeared on Set About,Toolroom, Material, Trapez ltd, Deeperfect, and now lands at New Violence armed with a sturdy 4 track EP, and ready to cause some mayhem.

We start procedding with 'Heroic' with its big drums, spoken vocals and chugged up bass on steroids, all wrapped up in a fierce set of drums that fire this one along with vigour. A dancefloor winner!

Up next we find 'La Pedrera', which beautifully blends the techier edge of things, with warmer and rounded synthy melodics which culminates in a bit of a winner.

'Cumba' keeps things pacey, as we plough forward meaning business. Big low end, cool percussion, trippy fx, clever vocal samples all layered nicely along this little journey, whilst still packing a mighty punch. The breakdown is a swirling bed of sounds, shrouded in a tripped out dreamlike phase before slamming back in to action.

And to round things off, its 'Da Bolkan' and its a no nonsense tech house slab of solidness, full of swagger that sets us up nicely. Add an unexpected pan-pipe line in the drop, some trippy fx and some cleverly layered subtle percussion, and we're just about there.

Seth Troxler’s agenda setting Play It Say It label is back with another massive release, this time coming from a group of Detroit heavyweights. Featuring a lead track from Andy Toth & Billy Love, it is packed with essential remixes from Chuck Daniels, Andrés & Midnite Jackers.

Andy Toth was part of Detroit Grand Pubahs and Billy Love is a singer from Detroit who added vocals to seminal tracks by Underground Resistance. Together they have help their city’s electronic music earn its enviable reputation on the world stage, and here Billy tells a story informed by his time as a male revue dancer at a legendary strip club called Watts Club Mozambique.

The standout original here, which had a low-key release a few years ago, ’Thrillseekers,’ is an off-beat house number with fresh synth stabs and popping drums that come with steamy vocals. It’s future facing and soul infused and is the sort of characterful cut that will mark the highlight of any set.

Up first with the remixes, Sample Recordings main man Chuck Daniels shows off his Detroit credentials with a driving and late night, smooth and seductive take that is filled with warm machine soul. Pre-release this classic Detroit groove has been getting lots of support from Eats Everything, Riva Star and Seth Troxler.

The second sizzling remix comes from Detroit’s Andrés, a key artist on Moodymann’s Mahogany label who has put out three seminal albums as well as many killer jams on his own La Vida. His hip hop indebted style is here in all its glory once more, with loose and rough drums jammed out on an MPC and interwoven with gorgeous jazz chords and a noodling bassline.

Already released and doing lots of damage on worldwide dance floors, the Midnite Jackers remix is nearly eight minutes of rough and ready, attitude riddled house with fat bass, rude vocals and a wonky feel that will add plenty of freakiness to any party. This is a Detroit heavy single featuring some of the Motor City’s finest talents, and is set to be one of the big record of the summer without a doubt.
