Last night I dreamt of a hotel room by the ocean, saltwater was coming in beneath the windows. Did you know that most cells in the human body replace themselves every 7 to 10 years? This idea is in fact somehow inaccurate, even though beautiful in its own naive, poetical ingenuity. I've pinpointed my oldest olfactory memory down to saline skin and the scent of nasturtiums in a midsummer heatwave.

“R U OK?” leads us through sky blue vistas to peachy moments of tenderness, as heartfelt pictures of intimacy span across its five compositions. Reflecting on the folly of misspent life and the digital universe’s ever-expanding presence within our physical domains, Tomasz Szpaderski's music taps brilliantly into the collective consciousness to deliver a serene and bravely optimistic depiction of our timeline.

An entrancing combination of luscious ambient pads, trance piano melodies and avant-pop structures, “R U OK?” evokes a VR-like fantasy of a soon to be lost world, scattered tokens of beauty and heartbreak in the present day, culminating as a kaleidoscopic snapshot of 21st-century existence.

Following stellar tracks on Eastern Nurseries' 2022 compilation 'Wild Love to Grow' and 'Songs For Sirens' earlier this year, Mirror Organs' label debut "Sunless" sees the London-based producer deliver a strident selection of compositions that shimmer on new horizons of what contemporary ambient music can be.

Known for his previous work on his own imprint Steep Incline, Mirror Organs' second album sees the artist in a moment of transition. Sculpted granular harmonics and glitched-out drum programming encircle one another while spectral disembodied vocals cut through with an uncanny valley sensibility. Sonic blasts and ghostly drones offer dynamic richness throughout the album's opening oeuvre, while the tail-end of "Sunless" conjures an altogether headier atmosphere driven by its dancefloor aesthetic impulses. Cut-up breakbeats introduce a readiness to embrace a stroboscopic point of view, set against a glorious backdrop of youthful, post-rave nostalgia. Playful by design, 'Sunless' markedly bears influence from the UK's rich history of dance music innovation as much as it does from recent European ambient movements - a returnal moment driven by Pooley's first experiences with electronic music in the late '00s.

Debuting on Eastern Nurseries with her first solo release since late 2020, Emma Acs delves further into the realm of chamber pop with the single "Human Siren". Rooted within the Danish songwriter's poetic sense of melancholy and impeccable timbre, Emma's diverse world of influences culminates in a forlorn serenade that flows with a sense of intimacy rarely found in contemporary language.

The experimental, free-flowing impetus that drove her 2020 EP "While I Shoot From My Fortress of Delusions" remains steadfast, albeit more subtly defined. Subdued in its striking minimalism, "Human Siren" enthrals with a combination of soft orchestral strings, piano and foreboding electronic drones, building across a hefty backbone of bass guitar and drums. A pop ballad of exquisite tenderness, love and longing.

Following on from his solo debut "Atoll" on A.V.A. in 2019 and a more recent run of EPs and collaborative releases, this new body of work sees the Porto-based musician's style shift, further contemplating minimalism as his core approach. Heavily anchored by expansive overtones and lavish slow-moving melodies, all five compositions carry a monolithic yet delicate presence. It is a work of masterfully exercised restraint and quasi-sacred beauty. Of trauma and broken promises. If the sea would ask me, would I follow?

German Army is as prolific a project as they get. Heading from California, the enigmatic ensemble have been one of the loudest voices in the international tape scene for the past couple of years. Taking a strong stance against imperialism in all forms and with a hefty focus on documenting the global extinction of language, flora and fauna, German Army's music shows art as a political act.

"Hearing Lola Kiepja" showcases an emotive take into the project's noisier heart, bringing forward the anonymous duo's flair for alluring melodies. There is a dark, cosmic quality to the work, with synthetic clusters of lo-fi beauty pushed in a fever-induced fast succession. Hypnotic choirs and synth-driven rhythms drawing you in as droplets on a basin. A thousand lost voices sing around the fire, we follow on the footsteps of the dead.
