In June 2018, East Forest was invited to Ram Dass’ home in Maui to join in conversation and record brand new teachings from the legendary teacher. After capturing these words of wisdom, East Forest returned to his studio in the high desert of Southern Utah to compose the soundtrack to beautifully support each songs’ subject. In these new recordings, Ram Dass’ words speak masterfully to the modern challenges that so many face with technology, dark thoughts, the nature of soul and so much more. The new East Forest record also features guest appearances from the likes of Trevor Hall and Grammy nominated artist, Krishna Das, all framing Ram Dass’ teachings with contemporary voices and cementing the 87 year old spiritual teacher into an echelon of relevancy and immediacy — offering a direct antidote for a highly polarized nation that is deeply in need of a universal voice of wisdom, connection and unconditional love.

"Andrew and I (Marc) are grateful to play a small part in this project. We’re excited about the beautiful work East Forest has brought together to honor the teachings of Ram Dass.

We chose the piece 'Dark Thoughts' because of our own struggles with darkness. Ram Dass doesn’t sanitize or romanticize this darkness, he just observes it. Almost deviously, he says, “You love your dark thoughts…” Reminding us that sometimes, we just want to be left alone to entertain our darkness. Eventually we will emerge from it. Sadly, sometimes we may emerge 'more dead than alive’ as Ram Dass so succinctly wrote years ago in a letter to two grieving parents after the murder of their eleven year old daughter. Nevertheless, we emerge and because of the darkness, we are once again grateful for light. Thank you for your light, Ram Dass."

American musician and contemporary classical composer, PETER BRODERICK reworks the track "Home" from the album "Ram Dass" with a deft energetic approach taking the song into a dance/electronic world with a Berlin techno edge while still grounded in a melodic tension by the addition of his original violin work.  The "Ram Dass" album reached #1 iTunes and #2 Billboard (New Age) and features new teachings from the legendary spiritual teacher, Ram Dass - now 88 years old and speaking directly to solutions to our highly polarized nation.

Home (Peter Broderick Rework)

This is the first song from my upcoming EP collaboration with "Rising Appalachia".  If you dont know who they are, I recommend that you educate yourself swiftly as they are the JAM;  Beautiful, elegant, sultry sisters from the South.  

Leah and Chloe play Fiddle, Banjo, Guitar, and create eloquent vocal harmonies that melt my heart.  We met 4 years ago in India and have reconnected to blend our sounds together.

They compose original music as well as traditional music from around the world.  This song "Sunu" is an african/appalachian fusion piece.  

We have had several rag tag recording sessions around the US (pictures coming soon hehe) and have had some of the most fun I have ever had in my life collaborating.  The Joy I have in my heart when I create this music is inexplicable in words.  This project makes me feel bliss.  

We're working on a full live performance also which is....dare I say.... mucho legendary
