I don’t play many shows. Maybe five this year. That small number makes each one feel strangely huge to me. Every gig snaps me out of my creative lulls and into that beautiful pressure zone where things finally start to flow. I can get in my own way a lot, but when there’s a deadline on the horizon, something switches on. No overthinking, no second guessing, just music finding its shape.

When the chance came up to play again in my new hometown of choice, Mexico City, it stirred something deeper. I’d been pushing myself to sound a certain way, stuck in the idea that I’m supposed to be a downtempo artist. Letting go of that opened the door for everything else. I just wanted to make what moved me. What touched me. What made me smile or groove or sit with a feeling for a second.

This set ended up being all of that. It moves from 108 to 130 bpm and back - pensive in moments, funny in others, occasionally ambitious, occasionally lazy, with a few punches thrown in...In a weird way, it feels like a good snapshot of who I am. My essence always sneaks into the music, even when I’m unaware of it while creating.

I’m genuinely grateful for the people at Re:Integra who helped make this night happen and for everyone who danced with me. To everyone who came up afterwards with a kind word or a pat on the back. That stuff really stays with me.

I’m going to put myself out there more again. Promise.
