I started working on this song when I was messing around on my Roland JUNO-D6, specifically, one of the preset scenes known as "Palm Tape". I tried to play the chords of it myself (the first chord was G Major) and accidentally played an A Minor chord instead of D Major, thought it sounded nice, and decided to work on this new song.
