A story by Adam Mark Price. 
Fire Red Lion was written around about 2005. 
At the time, the person who I was certain was 'the girl of my dreams' had just destroyed my heart, and I was devastated. I wrote a lot of songs around this time, but I remember this one because I was looking at a painting my friend did for me on a birthday card he gave me. The painting appeared to be of an orange and red coloured four legged animal, which I felt at the time was a lion. As I looked at this, alone, I wrote the song. The lyrics were about not needing the love of anybody else, because I loved myself. I felt that you couldn't rely on other people or trust them, but as long as I had myself, I'd be okay. I guess I'm calling upon the 'Fire Red Lion' like Voltron, to take me back to that moment when I had a strong sense of love for myself. It felt good. 
When I listen to the end of this song it takes me back to the emotion I felt at the time of its creation, and that sends shivers down my spine. My mother (who I was living below at the time) used to get upset when I sang this song at 3am in the morning. "Adam, be quiet! You sound like a dying animal!" I love my mum.
