Recorded live in the historic courtyard of Kitchen in the Desert (29 Palms), near Joshua Tree Park. This improv mix is all over the place, I had some fun on this adventure. "Hand or Eye" genres span minimal, housemusic, deep house, and even a micro dose disco house, which is from one of the first records I added to my collection in 1998 - Busta Funk's "Black Sugar"...it still holds its own to this day.

This is the third installment in my series drawn from the William Blake poem, "The Tyger". Namir, my DJ name, means swift cat or tiger, so that is the reason for all the tiger imagery and references. The four mixes derive their name from the first lines of the poem. 

Tyger Tyger, burning bright, 
In the forests of the night; 
What immortal hand or eye, 
Could frame thy fearful symmetry? 

Therefore, the names of the mixes are:

Hand Or Eye - Mix 3 of 4

Mix 4 out of 4 - Fearful Symmetry. The fourth line of William Blake's "The Tyger" basically questions what sort of entity was capable of creating a the awe inspiring tiger, check the rest of the featured mixes on my page for all four mixes, inspired by "The Tyger" poem. 

This is the first drum and bass mix that I've felt comfortable posting, I make them for workouts...to get all amped UP! Fearful Symmetry is collection of varying drum and bass styles, strung together with the intent of taking the listener through a journey. Starts off with a bouncy vibe that eventually descends into a dark, dark place and then returns back to the surface with lots of light, to achieve symmetry.

NutZLove Event 2/11/22 - Easy Tiger

Easy Tiger recently helped curate the launch of Joshua Tree Distilling Company’s brand new Dark Sky Gin. The event was a lively affair with craft gin cocktails and a marathon DJ set by Easy Tiger’s Nic Neath. In addition, Otterbach Art’s “Rocket” was on display, which doubled as an immersive art installation, and a cool hidden lounge for sipping cocktails. This poolside Sunday session is a combination in between bluesy house, a genre I call 'cowboy funk', and a light dusting of nu-disco. Perfectly suited for the Hacienda's desert setting and crafted with love for a very special group of guests, everything came together beautifully. I was in absolute heaven, so much so that I had to play two versions of Kasper Bjorke's 'Heaven' track.

Cielos Nostalgia Event: All Vinyl Mix

Get out your funkshovel and let's dig a little deeper. This mix is all about deep & tech house, two of my 'flavorite' genres. The title of the mix was influenced by the cover image of a tagged excavator that I spotted in San Francisco as well as the first track of the mix, which is called 'Funkshovel' by Lopazz and Heidi (remixed by SIS). DIG IT!

Mix recorded at Gstar, the tempo goes from chill to can’t stand still. Starts with some Hayden James, then to Blood Orange, Erykah Badu (Dallas represent!), and off to dreamy, bossa nova bliss with one of my favorite Thievery Corporation songs, "The Glass Bead".  Eventually it blasts off to dance pace, perfect for pre-game on the weekend.

Recorded Live @ Gstar

This is the first of a four mix series, the titles and genres are based on the first four lines of the William Blake poem, The Tyger. In the poem, Blake questions what sort of entity could create such a magnificent creature, while the tiger traverses the forest, under cover of night. 
Like the first line of the poem, this mix is called 'Burning Bright', which I thought was fitting since I've been wanting to do a Burning Man inspired mix. Bonus points to anyone that can spot the words borrowed from Lauren Hill...I've give you a hint, it isn't the quote at the very beginning. I added that quick statement from Ray Manzarek of the Doors because he just simply nails it while talking about genre. Please follow if you like the beats, many thanks!

Hey tigers! This one was a lot of fun to program, its all over the shop. Named after the second line of William Blake's "The Tyger", it's called "Forests of the Night". Starts with some deep, dark house then heads into genres that span across ambient, bossa nova, downtempo, drum & bass, techno, and there's even a bit of cello...brought you by none other than DJ Qbert, the scratch legend. At 2 hours and 40 minutes this melange of music is quite a journey...so pack a lunch.

Tiger Stream 8.30.20

Easy Tiger is Nic Neath, a desert-dwelling cat that survives on a steady diet of house music, techno, and the occasional canapé of breakbeat. This multi-genre approach is a product of Nic’s diversified upbringing. Born in New Orleans and raised near Austin, our lil’ tiger cub developed a taste for blues and jazz at a young age. Sitting behind soundboards at live music venues with his uncle, music became a passion that grew into an obsession. 

Once Easy Tiger discovered proper house at his first warehouse rave in 1996, it was time to earn his stripes. He acquired a pair of Technics and commenced the hunt for that underground sound, digging for unique vinyl. Playing venues across Texas, eventually moving to Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, and finally settling near Joshua Tree, each home left a lasting imprint on this serial nomad’s style. 

Having DJ’d for over 25 years, Easy Tiger utilizes his experience to weave elements of blues, jazz, soul, hip-hop and house into his sets, a formula that offers a little something for everybody on the dance floor. Nic has played recent events with artists such as Justin Martin, Galen, and Tone of Arc.
