Within the maze-like passageways of the organization’s most secure facility lay a block of cells custom forged to contain the eldritch powers of their aberrant inhabitants. Some bore robust electrokinetic plating on their walls to prevent their inhabitants from simply phasing through their containment, whilst others opted for amplified versions of more traditional carceral methodology, locking their subjects behind foot-thick doors of depleted uranium and litany of layered locks to keep the horrors that resided within them at bay. Amidst this labyrinth, one cell alone seemed strangely conventional, but behind its bars lay an anomalous being more sinister than any with which it shared this ward.

On a purely physical consideration, the subject was by the hallmark of its species, a towering ursine figure that rippled with musculature developed by its myriad successful hunts. Tooth and claw were honed to perfection for that self-same savage purpose, and even the beast’s oaken fur seemed to be sharpened by the bear’s pure predatory instinct. Yet the creature was not the only inhabitant of its cell, as coursing through its veins was another organism of lesser stature but perhaps greater danger. Its viral influence had overtaken the beast’s brain, and in exchange, it had tripled the creature’s strength and imbued it with unending ravenous hunger. That selfsame virus now lay within the acrid saliva that dripped from the subject’s jaws, and posed a threat far greater than that of the simple mauling that its host could well deliver. For once its host had finished with its prey, the virus would reconstitute their remains under its own control, adding another hungry mouth to the ravenous swarm it sought to grow. As each took another life, the virus’s influence would only grow, until it had the entire world ENSNARED under it singular influence.

With ENSNARED, AKOV returns triumphantly to EATBRAIN with his latest selection of infectious Neurofunk sonics, which are set to whip the label’s horde into a frenzy on the basis of their pure primal power. Within, AKOV’s signature twisted basslines are applied to rapid percussive sequences amidst a variety of texture pads for the creation of four tracks guaranteed to rend their way into the ears of unsuspecting listeners.

Reinvention comes in many forms, but as far as they go, this is a masterclass. After their oscillation heavy debut that made Aisling and Jevgenijs take the world by storm that is Formation EP in the summer of 2020, they blew all expectations out the water on Hyperdrive EP later that year, further cementing them as one of the most forward thinking acts in dnb.

And now, with Vibes n Colours EP, comes their most definitive and personal work to date. A truly breathtaking journey through every single frequency of the drum & bass spectrum and even venturing into house on No Pass, dubstep on Soljah and have even cooked up a bona fide moombathon cult classic in the making in the form of Peanut Butta.

Vibes n Colours EP is a wild ride that captures the imagination from the first note all the way down to the last and it evolves constantly into new uncharted territory, PRFCT Mandem style.

The battlefield lay littered with discarded weapons, blades buried in slain foes that slumped vacantly over brothers in arms and enemies alike, forgotten by those who had survived the engagement and long since moved on. Discarded lances, pikes, and spears jutted from the ground at odd angles, creating a twisted and nightmarish landscape eerily akin to the forests from which their hafts had once been hewn. As the setting sun glittered gently upon the mail and plate that still encased the remains that lay upon the bloodied ground, this grove of gore cast its shadow upon the soil, and within this darkness began to coalesce the shared woes of all who had fallen that day. 

As the sun fell from the sky the shadows seemed to draw closer and closer together, merging inexorably upon the corpse of a noble knight who lay impaled at the center of the field, his heraldry marred by the vital fluids that had quickly gushed from the wound in his chest. Into this gaping wound did the shadows creep, infusing the knight’s body with energies of vengeance extracted from the thousand other souls that had died at his side. As this vengeful ichor began to flow within his veins the knight slowly rose, his plate armor clanking softly amidst the dead silence that surrounded him. As he stood before the final rays of daylight, the knight grabbed the hilt of the great sword that had run him through, dislodging it from his chest with somber and dutiful purpose before hefting its mighty length over his left shoulder. In the vacancy left behind by this behemoth blade a heart of pure shadow burst into being, sending forth a shockwave of darkness that drowned out even the light of the newly risen moon. Awakening once more to life, the knight forsook the loyalties that had led him to the field of battle, replacing them with the grievances of the countless mutilated forms beside him. REVENANT was he and all their sorrows suffused him, and thus for each of the slain he would exact eternal revenge. 

SLWDWN rises to the fore of the EATBRAIN horde with REVENANT, his debut EP on the label following an initial appearance on 2022’s “Divergence IV” compilation. On REVENANT, SLWDWN showcases a set of shadowy sonics dripping with sinister style, marking himself as a champion of such umbral sounds amidst the label’s ever growing roster.

The aim of the project was simple: the advancement of the human genome. The creation of a faster, stronger, more capable being from the raw source material of life, the encoding of a biological program more sophisticated than any other that had come before it, creator or lack thereof be damned. Set to work on the project were the organization’s top minds, experts in the fields of experimental medicine, biology, genomics and evolutionary theory. Working in secret under the benign neglect of the organizations public eye, their experiments pushed the very limits of the sciences they employed, as well as the morality that they all held quite fortunately in questionable regard.

From vats, replicators, test tubes, and centrifuges, these secretive experts bore forth forms of life never before seen, creating creatures both beautiful and terrifying, beings of undeniable superiority and of unimaginable horror born together as twins. Humanoids hybridized with multispecies genomes came forth in forms from fungal to animalistic, merged in unspeakable ways that stood in stark contrast to the hippocratic oath some present held upon the surface world. Down here in the depths of both earth and depravity, such concerns mattered not in the face of sheer technological and biological progress. Such was their task the VARIATION IN PRODUCTION of the multifaceted human genome.

The top minds of EATBRAIN present their latest compilation with VARIATION IN PRODUCTION, a collection of VIP MIXES from artists including Jade, L 33, Redpill, Smooth, Agressor Bunx, MNDSCP, Dub Elements, and Zombie Cats. Revisiting some of their most powerful productions, each artist brings a new spin to their top tracks within, leading the EATBRAIN horde on the path of advanced sonic evolution with the frequencies and sequences inside.

It’s limestone passageways warped these sounds, reverberating them off of their walls and through the cool underground air that served as a carrier for their transmission. None nearby knew what lay within, only that such sounds warranted nothing but the forbiddance of the entire clearing near the cave, lest one who strayed there be taken by their demonic influence. Thus it was, thus it had been, and thus, prayed the nearby inhabitants, it always would be. Then, the noises stopped.

The quiet was celebrated at first, a sign of old demons exorcised by the faith of the local population. Within the furthest reaches of the cave however was not a demon expelled, but rather a demon reborn. Slowly, a lithe feline form came to its feet, shaking off both the chains that had bound it and portions of its own rotted flesh in a single ripple of its primal musculature. It moved almost silently through the cave, save for the occasional scratch of claw against rock as it contorted its monstrous form to squeeze through the narrow passageways of its ages old prison, which shore of yet more of its rotted flesh as a toll for passage. Driven the burning cold of a long forgotten grudge, the beast clambered forwards, vowing to itself to slaughter those who had bound it here so long ago. There within the cave, emerging from darkness pitch black, the beast’s predatory yowl was that of the ZOMBIE CATS.

Following the recent debut of their eponymous imprint label and the release of their album “Mutation”, the ZOMBIE CATS return to EATBRAIN and lead the EATBRAIN horde on a sonic prowl with CHAINS, and EP bound by the feline frenzy of their signature sound.
