Alongside the delicious aggressiveness that made Audio so renowned, his ‘Beastmode’ LP cracks him open like you’ve never heard him before. Fiercely powerful, yet intricately different, each cut from his debut album on the Ram Records imprint packs a very different punch whilst hitting with the same fierceness and wealth of talent. 

‘Beastmode’ reflects all his output to date. Whether it’s the old-school flavor of virus, or the steppy-unapologetic riddims he’s served up for Ram, this record won’t leave you questioning who rules supreme over the genre’s murkier waters. 

Whether it’s the half-time, two stepping ‘Move it Along’ or the pulsing, snarling undertones of ‘Thud’, you’re blessed with a barrage full of fresh sonic assaults. ‘Thunder Ridge’ serves as the perfect opener, a brand new record with synth-laddered foreboding intro which pushes you below the surf. Tinkling hi-hats and a distorted LFO adds shockwaves throughout the mix, submerging you even deeper. Urgent, pulsing and nastily crafted, this is Audio at his most fearsome. 

On the other hand, ‘Rogue’ presents a clanking, runaway riddim that snaps its teeth with every break. Stacked between ominous build ups and jaunty samples, the second drop flairs out as angrily as the first, demonstrating Audio’s ingenious sound design. 

And flipping the switch once again is ‘Sovereign’, a nod to the producer’s roots and a track that gradually builds its presence throughout. Between warbling stabs and peddled kick drum, you’re drawn by the aural nerves. Elevating beat patterns set you up for another descent into madness, through a stringently tight composition. 

Featuring artists, such as drum & bass heavyweight Prolix, also take center stage. Their collaboration ‘Creatures’, alongside the revered lyricist Nuklear MC, adds a welcomed surprise. ‘Creatures’ delivers everything you’d expect and more; steroid-pumped subs, the dark overture of Nuklear and apocalyptic atmospherics. 

Also featured on its weighty track listing are singles ‘Make it Happen’, ‘Overdose’, ‘Drop it Human’ and ‘Shatterdome’. They were a precursor for what was to come, which signified one of the darkest, most uncompromising productions yet on Ram Records… In all of its twenty five years of history.

One year had passed since the devastation of mankind. All life ravaged by the undead plague, a tide of death sweeping across the planet mercilessly, as the ever-growing mass of the lifeless swelled in its wake. The sentient population of the globe was reduced to pitiful numbers, hiding in the wreckage of once vibrant cities, long since destroyed in the futile battle for survival. Where once there was hope for survival, now remained only the ember of a desperate memory of a different future. The cycle of the dead was ever in motion, their ragged forms roaming in packs, haunting the urban desolation. Ever-dimming senses of their terminal animated corpses constantly ready to consume the living. An endless yearning to feed drove them relentlessly onwards through the desolate shadows of civilization’s end, whilst the earth below those skulking feet continued its galactic voyage obliviously. Above one such horde, a celestial alignment was unfurling in the cold depths of space. As the sun burned blood red against the horizon and the moon slid serenely across its infernal face, the light dimmed as heavy shade drew across planet. The shuffling of the horde paused as distant poured their anguish into the sky at the early arrival of night. Rotting faces raised to the heavens, the light of that unholy corona spilling across their putrid features. The dying rays of a bleak sunset penetrating their rotting sockets, as the SOLAR ECLIPSE leveled darkness upon the earth with raging eternal might.
 
Hungarian neurofunk legend CHRIS.SU returns to the EATBRAIN label in full force, following up his ‘Underground Culture’ label anthem and State of Mind Collaboration ‘Chariots’ with his first full EP – SOLAR ECLIPSE. From the eerie and suspenseful atmosphere of the title track in collaboration with label core JADE & MINDSCAPE, to the driven filth of THE LAST LAUGH, wrapped in the sinister lyrics of NUKLEAR, through to the shimmering but powerful sci-fi aesthetics of THE ARROW, Chris.SU delivers a pure slice of heaviness for one of dnb’s most vibe-laden imprints. The forthcoming LP from The Clamps and Kosen Productions isn’t just a collection of records which the French artist has spent months perfecting. It’s also a colossal look into the soundscape which such a high-calibre artist has at their disposal. Stretching across fifteen tracks, between drum & bass and garage, The Clamps focuses around the insanity that is stretching itself across the contemporary world and how he’s helped to define this sonically through each one of his records. There’s also a host of sci-fi inspired cuts which add to the LP’s explosive themes. From the already revealed record ‘LHS 1140b’, with a name that’ll resonate for any space fans, right through to the hard-hitting throws of ‘End of an Era’, there’s a taste to suit every palette throughout every expertly composed record. 

After already setting an enviable standard with the undeniably heavyweight standards on tracks like ‘Looking for Trouble’ alongside the notorious Nuklear MC, standalone offerings such as ‘Mankind’ and ‘30a #3a-23 Happiness’ peddle an unforgettable level of engineering whilst also pushing through a cinematic backdrop. Then a range of collaborations follow in their wake, including ‘Astronauts’ alongside Impak, as well as Snotrocket for ‘Friends in the Hood’. Merikan also joins the fray with ‘Fast Way’. 

The pace is continued to be set with ‘Cattle Mutilation’, whilst Mizo and The Clamps join forces for the meticulously sequenced drums of ‘Time Pressure’. ‘Medina’ pulls you through its half-time madness whilst adding to the LP’s strident versatility, which is followed in quick succession by ‘Soul of the Abyss’ with its throbbing LFOs. The Clamps and NickBee then merge their collective talents for ‘Addicted’, with its more old-school underpinnings. ‘The First and the Last’ platforms the creeping atmospherics which characterises many pieces of The Clamps’ sonic artillery, whilst ‘End of an Era’ draws the album to a close on a cataclysmic breakdown which takes you deep into the belly of the beast. ‘End of an Era’ alludes to The Clamps’ hardcore roots, whilst paying homage to the new foundations he’s laid down through his new music and Kosen Productions.
