NEUROPUNK RECORDS takes a retrospective for their latest release, reimagining a selection of tracks from their past releases for the first entry in their NEUROPUNK REMIXED series. Featuring original tracks drawn from the catalogues of NEUROPUNK RECORDS heavyweights including Mizo, Gydra, & Teddy Killerz, and reimagined by Joe Ford, Levela, & Crissy Criss, NEUROPUNK REMIXED V1 delivers a trio of tracks that span a wide portion of the Drum & Bass world for the label’s first such collaborative effort. 

JOE FORD steps up first to add his spin to MIZO’s sinister MECHANICAL PAW, wherein he wastes no time in unleashing an unending torrent of lashing low end frequencies that send the already furious track into an expertly overdriven frenzy. Next comes LEVELA’s remix of GYDRA & TEDDY KILLERZ’ track MILES HIGH from the label’s standout first release. Playing up the tracks funk fueled flow, the stripped back swagger of LEVELA’s signature style shines through to create a deviously dirty down low groove driven by the original’s unmistakeable vocal sample. CRISSY CRISS then takes on TEDDY KILLERZ’ MUTATION for the EP’s final remix, holding nothing back as he experiments on the track’s already massive basses to create devastating reeses and electrified stabs alike as he synthesizes a new form further befitting of its name.

With NEUROPUNK REMIXED V1, NEUROPUNK RECORDS showcase the full breadth of their label’s scope as they invite three pioneering artists to reinterpret a selection of the label’s most notable tracks. DEXTEMS are the latest artists to emerge from the fires of the NEUROPUNK forge, making their debut on NEUROPUNK RECORDING’s series that focuses on novel artists honing their sounds within the heat of the label’s crucible. Bringing with them an EP entitled HEAD CRUSHER, DEXTEMS make no pretense to the aggressive fervor of their sonic style as they emerge still smouldering from the NEUROPUNK forge, imbuing the four tracks within with the energy of roaring flame.

Opened by its title track, the HEAD CRUSHER EP wastes no time in working towards its stated goal with an onslaught of devilishly distorted basslines meeting the listener in auditory combat within the EP’s first minute. Though monstrous in their initial impact, these basslines are carried upon a distinctly funk fueled percussive rhythm for the making of a diabolic and enrapturing mixture. RATCHET follows in a similar stylistic form, making use of distinctly rubberoid bases to great effect as it sets them rebounding amidst the selfsame funky atmosphere. SYNTHET then opts for a different approach to its two predecessors, setting its rapid percussive pulses amidst a gauntlet of sharply synthesized basses and leads that weave throughout the track as the drumbeat dodges between them. The EP is closed with the scientific sonics of FLYING MACHINES, which carries the listener effortlessly to great heights before dropping them atop a rolling breakbeat and electrified basslines that carry them through to the EP’s final notes.

With HEAD CRUSHER, veteran duo DEXTEMS braves the fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE to craft new sonic weapons built upon their many years of production experience. Deliberate in its title, HEAD CRUSHER is not merely a name, but rather a promise that DEXTEMS makes sure to fulfill on the four tracks within.

From the obelisks dark and rotted core seeped a sinister demonic poison, and ichor that worked its way into dark places both familiar and new. With it came the demons, who slithered out of their forgotten prison and found refuge amidst the smoke and flame now welcomed by those who had forbade them long before. As their power and number grew, their essence enveloped the city, immersing it in a sea of acrid darkness that choked living beings and the light of the sun with equal tenacity. Caught within this abyssal miasma, the minds of the city’s inhabitants corroded as their bodies mutated into horrendous forms, a slow, grueling process that spared those affected not a single horror. As day and night ceased to pass within the haze that strangled the city, the demons emerged from their dark places, assuming their de facto rulership over the city which was now carved in their image. Thus it was again that the world of the living was changed, therein by the darkness from which DIVERGENCE came.
