Hundreds of drones scrambled beneath a swirling sky as they raced to finish the construction of their monolithic aluminum kin, a masterstroke of technological progress that aimed its apex directly at the eye of the storm above. For years the coming of this cataclysmic event had been known, and from that day the building of the metallic superstructure had begun, but the storm had come a day early and now threatened all of the progress that had been made. In a few short hours, the incalculable ferocity of the gale was set to be supercharged by a coinciding solar flare that would send the forces that churned within it into overdrive, creating a storm that could swallow the world.

Standing below in defiance to this outcome was the drones’ creation, a mass array of rocketry set to bear forth the greatest payload ever delivered from their world. Atop the ship’s stacks of thrusters was a massive satellite, dangerous in its own right for its ability to create conditions much like those that loomed above. Yet beyond the reaches of the planet’s atmosphere, this satellite would be the world’s single attempt to prevent their own destruction, a cosmic parry with only an hour-long window of effect. By emitting a vast amount of oppositely charged particles in the face of the oncoming flare, the satellite would rebuff the energy that threatened to amplify the already destructive storm to apocalyptic proportions. As the surface of the sun roiled with fusion wrought energy, the rocket shot up into the sky, and all on the planet bated their breath in the uncertainty of what would come next.

Following his appearance on EATBRAIN’s Divergence III compilation CHASER now makes his full debut on the label with BLASTPIT, an EP well-named upon the strength of the sonic power that is contained within. The five tracks of the EP feature explosive basslines combined with piercing percussion and an array of samples & synths that all share CHASER’s high-tech sound and promise to supercharge the fervor of the EATBRAIN horde.

Beneath the exacting gaze of a high precision microscope, new life was brought into focus by the practiced hands of one of the world’s foremost biologists. Returned from a distant earthlike planet that had recently been reached via the recent invention of faster-than-light travel and the “Rapido!” drive that enabled it, the lifeform that lay encased within the glass of a petri dish was unlike anything that the biologist had seen before. Its body was formed of a crystalline lattice of substructures of varying hardnesses, which layered themselves in a hexagonal mesh to form the creature’s physically impenetrable exoskeleton. Using the microscope’s various electromagnetic spectrum filters, the biologist was further able to discern that the being’s nervous system was predicated upon a similar crystalline formation, albeit one significantly more flexible than the creature’s outer layer.

What vexed him, however, was the way in which this inner system seemed to respond to the microscope’s gaze. Directly beneath the device’s focal point was an inexplicable locus of neural energy, a hotbed of the organism’s rather simple electrochemical nervous system. This point persisted throughout various spectral analyses and even seemed to adapt to the type of analyses being employed at any given time, akin almost to an attempt at communication. Moreso, the intensity of energy at this point seemed to increase as time went on. The biologist ruminated on the implications of these readings before tuning his microscope to a specific, focused, electromagnetic frequency band aimed directly at the being’s core. It was then that, as though in objection to being subjected to such scrutinous study of its inner workings, the organism’s exoskeleton underwent a rapid change and unhinged along its crystalline axes as it expelled a multitude of spiny protrusions wrought from the complexity of its prior form. Like shards of impossibly sharp obsidian, these spikes pierced through the metallic construction of the microscope with ease, traveling almost instantaneously up the tool’s central shaft before piercing through the skull of the biologist with impossible precision, severing the optic nerve that so allowed him to gaze upon their form. Then, in an instant, they receded and recompiled themselves once more, inert upon the petri dish as they had been but moments before.

INTERCEPT follows up on his appearance on EATBRAIN’s Divergence IV compilation with INFINITY, his first full EP on the label. Featuring three tracks including a collaboration with fellow EATBRAIN artist and previous collaborator LIVEON, INFINITY serves as an introduction to the sheer sonic energy of INTERCEPT’s production for the ever-curious ears of the EATBRAIN horde.

He perched upon the barren ledge, high above the valley beyond – the place where his people had resided for an aeon of peace, withdrawn from the overwhelming technologies of the outer rim, hiding in the obscurity of tranquility. The habitat below was a mere dot against his retina, his imagination doing the work in constructing an image of the bustle of the many lives within. He carried with him the sacred resin, and carried within himself the rite of his people, handed down between generations for as long as their history could remember. His sacrifice would ensure the peace of a generation more - his torment would be their strength. Civilizations that had come before tore themselves into pieces - times of peace held the unspoken lies of restrained savagery, the bitter truth of which came frequently, and bloodily as brothers and sisters set upon each other with unbridled hatred. That dark ferocity was within him now, carefully extracted from the minds of the populace by the ancient methods, he was the vessel of his peoples’ catharsis. He hesitated a moment more, looking out to the distant peaks that had touched the heart of his eye since childhood, the gravity of the setting sun drawing his soul to the gold crested radiance of their summits. With a fluid motion he poured the resin down his gullet, felt it snaking through is entire being, searing the illumination of universal history deep within him. The staggering truths towered beyond him, twisting up in harmony before splitting, the many faces of darkness emerging, the true face of nature erupting in blackness, the unimaginable horrors that inhabit plains untouchable, the fiends that feed off life and light and invisibly, that grow in suffering… they felt his sight, knew they were exposed, their eyes turning inward to his psyche – tearing him apart, pushing through his body and erupting from within. The resin did its work… as the creatures unspeakable feasted on him across dimensions, roots burst from his ruined body, branches spiraling up trapping all in their path. A silence settled on the outcrop, nature threaded its fingers of wind through new grass, whilst the sun set against horrific merging of life and the terrifying living monument of DIVERGENCE.
