Born atop the forgotten ruins of a crumbling city, a new civilization had emerged from the ruin wrought by demonkind upon the landscape that lay beneath them. Lead by their prophets of a new and powerful faith, the people of this civilization had risen up against the demon kings, wielding the magic of their divine allies as weapons with which to exorcise their being once more from the land. This war though hard fought had born fruit, and with the slaying of the final demon the people had rejoiced, celebrating their victories with monumental constructions to mark the beginning of a new and golden era. Foremost of these was the great cathedral that lay at the heart of their new city, built both as a space of worship for the populace and as an eternal ward of imprisonment for the souls of demonkind which could not be slain, forever condemning them to an incorporeal existence under the watchful eye of the divine.

Ages had passed since then, and time had once again ground its steady edge against the minds of the people and upon the stones and timbers that had supported the great city for so long. Ritual had been forgotten, and structures of greater grandeur had been built as the city expanded, relegating it’s once monumental cathedral to neglect. Thus it was that the falling of only a single candle had lit an aged timber in it’s great hall, in so doing weakening the ancient wards that had kept the demonic spirits at bay. Ever vigilant in their ceaseless desire to escape, the demon kings fanned this flame with their focused ire, nurturing it from a single mote into a overwhelming conflagration that tore at the runic chains that had bound them for so long. Before long, the roaring of the flames was augmented by the howls of demonic spirits set free from a millennia of imprisonment, their visages taking form in the fire as manifestations of their burning rage. As the inferno bellowed ever higher, the city cowered in fear, for it was clear that the time of DIVERGENCE had come once more.

EATBRAIN unleashes the full fury of their horde with the fourth installment in their DIVERGENCE compilation series, a gargantuan 26 track compilation filled to the brim with new tracks from EATBRAIN mainstays and newcomers alike. A fact unknown to many is that the essential biological constructors of flesh, bone, sinew, and organ share a common form and structure within the bodies of beast and man alike. Though there exists a variance in their material composition and in their function, the base layer of these structures is much the same no matter the organism on which they can be found. As such, there exists a significant opportunity for the TRANSMUTATION of these traits between host organisms, birthing chimera and bringing to light new lifeforms built upon the most successful elements of other species that possess abilities beyond those of the sum of their parts.

One need look no further than the MYTHIC IMAGE upon the cover of this tome to begin to conceptualize such ideals, though doing so may require the reader to peer beyond their own biases as to the “righteous” state of the human form. Beneath this visage and within the pages that follow are a variety of rituals and practices that may imbue those who dare walk the path of TRANSMUTATION with the scales of great wyrms, the instinct of apex predators, the vision of raptors, and the characteristics of many other beasts altogether too strange to qualify in writing alone. Within is described the path of the meta-being, one that transcends classification and becomes an entity all of their own. Should you possess the fortitude to undertake this journey, your form shall possess abilities unlike any before you. Yet be forewarned, inquiring reader, for those who lack in this all-important quality are like to find themselves reduced to the selfsame basal state on which the techniques laid out in this tome are predicated.

NICKBEE and RIVER ACCROSI’s MYTHIC IMAGE returns to EATBRAIN for their second EP, TRANSMUTATION, which features three tracks set to fundamentally alter the sonic states of any would-be listeners that are exposed to their shifting tonalities. Amidst the decaying upholstery of a once-plush armchair sat a great mass of feline flesh, possessed of a hyperintelligent mind and prodigiously “chonky” in its size but utterly absorbed within the flickering lights of a cell phone device that it held absentmindedly in a single paw. Surrounding the chair lay scattered pieces of broken glass, torn carpet, and a blown-out window through which howled a distant wind. The howling wind reminded the feline of the howls of his old nemesis, canine creatures which he hoped would no longer roam the recently desolated streets of the ruined city that surrounded his home. Still, though, the gigantic cat looked up from his screen, eyes and ears flitting around the room as he assessed frantically whether one of these infernal creatures had survived the fireball that had enveloped the city mere moments ago.

After moments had passed, the cat purred a contented sigh, gazing over the ruins of the city that lay across the threshold of the once grand window that now framed his view of the world. Briefly, he regretted that he now needed to feed himself, owing to the unfortunate deaths of the humanoid servants that had once doted upon him with such constancy. Of course, they could still serve him once more as a fine meal themselves in the days to come, but the feline still thought of them fondly. He knew not why he had survived when so many others had perished, nor what stroke of luck had blessed him with his remarkably human intelligence, but it mattered not. The world had just been shattered, but as his nametag clinked gently in the breeze, the cat was not perturbed. It was quiet, he was entertained, and he had finally claimed the best chair in the house for himself. All beyond this room could burn, but in the dismal milieu of the scene that surrounded him, the cat was quite comfy. 

One of EATBRAIN’s most lauded horde leaders, MNDSCP, returns to the label with his latest EP, EDGE OF DISASTER, featuring four furious sonic sequences bristling with bassweight and irrefutably describable by the “chonky” descriptor shared by the feline figure within the EP’s artwork.

Untold millennia of annihilation lay in the wake of the abomination. Its timeless reach stretched across countless generations through fables of its legacy. The deep tremor of each ruthless touch it lay upon mankind’s destiny cast a long and terrible shadow through the many lives denied, the many stories that would remain forever untold. The flesh of each man’s future, torn by early entropy, reduced to dust – vitality joining the dank earth and with each that fell sank the lives of children that would never be. The horror had no name, born of pure, ill anger – a hate filled spirit without a shred of love, save for that which it carried for its brother, death. Waiting for the meaningless rivalries of man to erupt in war, it wakes at the brink of battle, feeding from fear and the cruel hearts of men as they wait with nervous agitation at the edge of slaughter. Their minds so fixated on killing their brothers, they barely notice as dark clouds roll across their battlefield, blotting out the sun and bathing all in the filthy bloodlight. Pushing their lust for death across the brink of reason, each side charging without fear at their enemy’s spears, the unutterable sounds of battle climaxing as its brother, the reaper, starts to swing. Descending into the chaos and slipping between the shadows, the abomination moves without mercy, twin blades moving without rest, writing in the language of carnage on the bodies of men. The horror of its work complete - it drinks in the silence that settles across the battlefield as all lie still, its hatred resonating in the quiet… the MASSACRE beyond it cutting deep.

AGRESSOR BUNX have torn an exceptional groove over the past few years, with previous releases on EATBRAIN including THE ORDER EP and their PROPERTIES OF ADDITION LP leaving a serious impression on the drum and bass community. With the duo representing as part of the core EATBRAIN LEAGUE live crew and having laid waste to raves across Europe with their touring, the time is ripe for their return to their father label for a fresh assault on the eardrums.
