TR Tactics is back with their signature powerful sounds and iconic neuro-sounding drum and bass. Renewing their style the well-known Austrian duo is providing us with two tracks where everything is in place.

Illuminate is a track that either makes you run and run fast or it makes you lose your mind on the dance floor, either way you can’t sit calmly when it is blasting in your ears. The clean riffs and hard-hitting drums make this track the forerunner of neu-neuro, which would be a more popular family to the old neuro sounds. Illuminate juxtaposes the traditional sound design of neuro and a more minimalist build-up that makes it flow unstoppably.

Dark Universe on the other hand –nomen est omen- is more classical in the neurofunk sense, it takes us deep into the void, the non-observable, the mysterious. The drums are massive and the track nicely incorporates some techno vibe. The lengthened notes let the listener lose total control.

I can see Milla Jovovich’s determined face going against zombies, outnumbered… Total Resident Evil vibe.

It is said that in the deepest layers of the subterranea, biology has no place… the complex mechanisms of old evolved relentlessly in ever-spiraling complexity, drawing their energy from the eternal thermal vents of the Worldcore. Mechanical beings woven within a delicate web of survival, spun into life from the sprawling hierarchical mechanism of the planet itself. In the dimly lit depths of one such level, subtle core alignment shifts spark their reaction, vents rerouting the intense heat through systems long untouched, spreading its energy across ancient precipitation tanks. Slow tendrils of steam curl upwards in the darkness, growing in intensity… feeding life into the machines of this place, setting the gears to their purpose. Lights flicker into being, and with them the metal orchids flourish, casting their alluring glow throughout the level. Life stirs in the fresh heat of the moment, the whirring of a thousand intricate mechanisms returning to life as wing films push against the air… every gear’s movement with a single purpose – to feed.
 
EATBRAIN presents rapidly rising Ukrainian producer NICKBEE with his GEARS EP, also featuring the eerie and alluring vocals of JOANNA SYZE. With these 4 delicately balanced and keenly crafted slices of neurofunk, Nickbee displays a refined sense of structure and minimalism, whilst delivering a powerful vibe for the dance. Half of the EP drips with dystopian spirit, bristling with razor sharp edges softened in NOWHERE TO RUN and WE FIGHT by Syze’s ethereal and alien voice. It was the product of eons of research, an infinitely divisible weaponized molecule with the power to viciously disrupt at a granular level. Its innocuous smooth, red exterior glinted sharply under the labs harsh fluorescent lighting as it sat singularly ready, packed with the kinetic malevolence of its design. Subject 01304 sat with the wide staring eyes of a prey animal, small droplets of perspiration erupting from the pale skin of his face and shifting with the continual nervous twitching within his restraints. The faceless assistants administered the Redpill swiftly and without resistance as the observers watched with dark eyes, gazing without emotion upon their work. Inside the dark, moist interior of the subject, the pill’s casing split, its infernal contents spilling out, bonding with the subject’s biomatter, multiplying, attaching itself to each of his organic molecules, maliciously converting and evolving… hungrily devouring and pushing relentlessly towards the endstate of its design. The observers watched as the subject’s body distorted, heaving internally as he uttered inhuman sounds and twisted at his restraints. Black tendrils laced through the surface of his skin, suddenly tightening, before he both at once ruptured and imploded. The Redpill’s process was complete… amongst the carnage the tentacled black mass of teeth and gaping hollow eyes reached eerily towards the glass, the shadow of death in its wake.

EATBRAIN inducts its newest recruit in the form of French producer REDPILL, delivering 6 powerful slices of neurofunk (including a collaborative piece with Eatbrain veterans ZOMBIE CATS) for the CORRUPTION EP. From the ultrafunked heavy playfulness of FUNK DA POLICE, to the lemming-infused destructive tendencies of GROOVE DESTRUCTION and the jump-up flavoured neuro of I’M THE LAW, each layer delivers a unique and precisely crafted take on the genre with an unrelenting kinetic spirit. REPULSION, RED CAT and RABBIT unleash powerful strokes of hard-hitting d&b, giving the RED PILL a mighty backbone that’s perfect for annihilating sound systems and certainly set to devastate festivals throughout summer. Eatbrain prove once again their ability to take upcoming artists alongside their established producers and aggressively level up their output to ultimate effect.

After having gained attention with releases on Renegade Hardware and Kinetik recently, young talent from Bratislava Kutlo is marching in with “The Raid”, a merciless Stomper driven by pan-pot-percussion and earthquake bass lines. TR Tactics do what they do best – disassembling the system in a fury and shifting orderly conditions to a “Chaos State”. Better run for cover when you see “The Swarm” coming up – Body & Soul let loose the Killer Bees. Although the Juno identity has only been around since late 2016, the Spanish producer has long been influential in the world of bass music through previous aliases Aphex and Pheex, receiving support from the likes of Krewella, Far Too Loud, Evol Intent, DJ Bl3nd, and more, as well as several award nominations from DJ Mag, International Breaks Awards, and Breakspoll.

With the massive ‘Raptor’ on last year’s ‘Summer Slammers’ compilation on Viper Recordings, followed hot on the heels with ‘Red Blocks’ (which received massive support from Insomniac) on 2018’s annual, Juno has paved the way for future success with the label, evident in ‘Akira’ and ‘Truth In The Skies’.

‘Truth In The Skies’ features the lyrical genius of Dutch native, Innate MC, known for his work with A.M.C.’s Titan Records. Another dark and gritty tune, great attention is given to the build-up of every drop, creating a sense of suspense from start to finish matched only by the tune’s incredible adrenaline.

‘Akira’ is a tech-inspired, bass heavy thumper of a track that is sure to please fans of the darker side of the genre. Deep, thudding bass backs a gritty, neuro-infused melody that constantly evolves as the track progresses, giving the track an almost haunting edge.
