Within the catacombs lay an artifact from a primordial age, untouched by the ravages of time under the protection of the magical wards that surrounded it and sealed within a series of hidden chambers and mazelike passages filled with untold horrors and traps that would deter even the most determined of invaders. The extent of this labyrinth was necessitated by the twin opposing powers represented by the artifact and its resting place, each capable of causing untold destruction should they be unleashed upon the world without being kept in check by the other. As such, the pair had been frozen in time this way for millennia, a lasting warning of the old powers that were better left unawakened.

In cataclysms that created the world, beings of unrestrained primordial energy roamed the land and constantly reshaped it to their will amidst a never-ending chaos of destruction. Those minor beings who hid beneath their feet had little recourse against the incursions of these beasts, and even should one be felled by their greatest of warriors it would only be reborn again from within the heart of the primordial chaos. So it was that the most skilled mages & craftsmen among them toiled for generations to create a blade that could pierce this endlessly beating heart, and bring tranquility to this world that had suffered under chaos for so long. Thus it was that the wards had been set and that the great labyrinthine temple had been constructed, for as the blade pierced the heart of all primordials it did further seal their power within the wound, so requiring that it may never be removed again lest it let their power spill forth into the world once more. To truly murder beings of such power, the ancestors had learned, one must hold the blade within their viscera for all eternity.

NUVERTAL after a brief appearance on Gydra’s album delivers his debut EATBRAIN release onto the ears of the label’s horde with REAL MURDER, an EP featuring three solo tracks and a collaborative work with EATBRAIN veterans GYDRA. Within, NUVERTAL brings a set of sonics that surge upon the oscillations of the EP’s electrified synths, fusing finely honed highs with devastatingly weighted basses for a work that is ready to energize the monstrous hearts of the EATBRAIN horde.

Thus it was that the falling of only a single candle had lit an aged timber in it’s great hall, in so doing weakening the ancient wards that had kept the demonic spirits at bay. Ever vigilant in their ceaseless desire to escape, the demon kings fanned this flame with their focused ire, nurturing it from a single mote into a overwhelming conflagration that tore at the runic chains that had bound them for so long. Before long, the roaring of the flames was augmented by the howls of demonic spirits set free from a millennia of imprisonment, their visages taking form in the fire as manifestations of their burning rage. As the inferno bellowed ever higher, the city cowered in fear, for it was clear that the time of DIVERGENCE had come once more.

EATBRAIN unleashes the full fury of their horde with the fourth installment in their DIVERGENCE compilation series, a gargantuan 26 track compilation filled to the brim with new tracks from EATBRAIN mainstays and newcomers alike. There it was again. That catch, like the world itself had hit a snag, a dropped frame in a frameless realm. The man looked around, long hair floating along as his head turned left and right. No one else had seemed to notice. Was it just him? Was he going crazy? Was his brain failing him? The first few times, he had dismissed it as his distractible nature, but the snag’s increasing frequency was beginning to concern him. With no answer to be found, the man reluctantly shrugged off what he had seen, adjusting his jacket briefly before continuing on his way home.

Yet again, the catch came on completely unexpected. He had been chopping vegetables for dinner, and the knife in his hand had frozen in midair as though it had encountered something completely solid, pausing for an agonizingly long second before continuing on its downward path. It almost cost him his finger this time. The doctors could find nothing wrong with him, and in all other respects his life was perfectly normal and otherwise unremarkable. So why this, this maddening hitch that interrupted it all? Frustrated once more, the man pulled his coat from its hanger and reached for the cigarettes in its pocket. Perhaps, he thought, a relaxing walk would sort this all out.

Emerging from his apartment, the man walked towards one of his favourite spots in the city, the great bridge that spanned the river at its center. Evening was beginning to fall, and the sky and river alike shone with the last rays of the day’s setting sun. The hitches did not come, and the man enjoyed his peaceful view. Relaxed, he decided to return home. He took a single step forwards, and there it was. This time he felt it coming, the hitch, the snag, the catch. This time, he thought, he would catch it. Opening his mind to the hitch’s coming, he grasped mentally for it at the exact moment of it’s arrival. Now, he would finally understand. He would finally have the truth. The man clutched at the hitch tightly in his mind, and it did not pass as the others had. Instead, amidst the coming dusk and fading daylight, the man saw the facade of this very world shatter.

LIVEON makes his EATBRAIN debut with STUTTER, his first full EP on the label following his first appearance on the Divergence 2 compilation in 2019. Bringing with him a set of basslines with sonic capabilities that live up to the EP’s name including tracks with CHRIS.SU & DATI, LIVEON leads the EATBRAIN horde into a new sonic reality with the 5 track STUTTER EP.
