Recent years have seen Mob Tactics revel in creative freedom. Releases like the “Body Check EP” and 
the Ryme Tyme - laced “Tweakers” have demonstrated multiple facets to their sound. Unconstrained by 
sub-genre limitations, the one thread that binds all their work is that commitment to making ravers 
move. Complex and technical, but with an irresistible edge of funk aimed straight at the dancefloor, 
Mob Tactics established their brand of drum & bass circa 2010, and quickly caught the ear of the likes of 
Andy C, DJ Hype, and Chase & Status. Signed and certified by some of the biggest DJs and labels in the 
scene, we've got a feeling they're just getting started.
So. Ok... This one... right then, prepare yourselves. Leading off with some old school Bukum style pleasant chords Mob Tactics come hard on the switch up with some serious screw face stomper business. Two solitary figures circled each other, combatants in an arena borne of their own destructive power. One sat upon the back of an eldritch beast, a terrifying mass of tooth and claw formed of horrendous ritual. It lumbered menacingly, providing a platform for the diminutive sor whom sat atop it. The sorceress’ dainty wings fluttered in anticipation as she watched her challenger, flecking droplets of blood shed in the engagement from their surface with every half beat. By contrast the challenger strode simply upon his own two feet, dwarfed by the size of the beast which faced him with the sorceress upon its back. As he tread his path he observed its every movement with each of his senses, watching, waiting, and anticipating what would come next in equal measure. The air hung still around the duelists, all sound awaiting the next step of their feet with bated breath.

In a moment the beast lunged forwards with a roar, its gaping maw outstretched towards the challenger. The beasts neck extended like that of a serpent, another impossibility created of the magic which coursed through its veins. Forewarned by his vigilant watch, the challenger leapt to the air before the beast’s maw, SEIZING THE MOMENT as he planted a single foot firmly on its nose. Enraged, the beast thrashed at its would be prey, launching the challenger further upwards & backwards. With practiced grace, the challenger took hold of this momentum, holding forth his blade as he arced towards the sorceress upon the beast’s back. With a flourish, the challenger pierced the malevolent heart of the sorceress mere moments after his initial leap, landing back upon the ground below obscured by a cloud of dust. Behind him, the beast shrieked in an increasingly high pitched wail, cut off from the source of eldritch might which had driven it. It shrunk rapidly as its cry grew higher and higher, returning to its original state as a field mouse before quickly scurrying away.

TOBAX returns to EATBRAIN with his first full release in the SEIZED MOMENT EP, bringing his frenetic and fast paced sound to the label with four furious DNB tracks. The titular SEIZED MOMENT features the vocals of HELO alongside a stabbing staccato bassline that is relentless in its out of the gate audio assault. BURNING quickly whips the embers of its opening into an inferno, as the singed edges of its bassline roar with pained power atop a pounding drumbeat. KAPPA’s mysterious introductory synth line bounces atop a breakbeat before dropping into a deeply aggressive metallic rhythm driven by a pulsating two step pattern, whilst INVISIBLE SPIRIT, the EP’s collaboration with BAD DISTRICT, combines its ominous atmosphere with a rushing arpeggiated bass for a crazed & spirited dash to the EP’s finish. With the SEIZED MOMENT EP, TOBAX truly makes the most of his moment, pushing his overwhelmingly aggressive sound to its limits on EATBRAIN.

The annual summer album from the south-London based imprint provides a soundtrack for a time in our lives that has changed every one of us. From their homes to yours, their weekly virtual parties have allowed us to come together under the shared love for 174 beats per minute.

The album is packed with 32 brand new original tracks, collaborations and remixes to make sure that good vibes and even better music are in plentiful supply, featuring the likes of Camo & Krooked, Flava D, London Elektricity, S.P.Y, Kings Of The Rollers, Degs, Logistics and Makoto, seamlessly blended together by Nu:Tone on the continuous mix.

Delivering everything you’d expect plus more, Urbandawn’s ‘Carnival Blues’ is a nod to his eclectic musical background.The Sao Paulo-based sonic architect canvasses vibrations from around the world into an untestable drum & bass cruncher. Villem sets the compilation in motion with ‘We Had A Song’ ft Leo Wood, a 2020 cover of a classic by the progressive contemporary icons The Roots - “You Got Me”. Villem infuses drum & bass with neo soul and hip hop to create a sublime liquid bouncer drenched in moreish guitar riffs and comforting strings.

His first release since his seventh studio album, Hospital head-honcho London Elektricity has teamed up again with the Stockholm-based Bulgarian Goddess, providing stunning orchestral sounds in ‘Someone Once Gave Me A Melody’. Camo & Krooked meet Pola & Bryson on their official remix of ‘Turn Up (The Music)’. Incorporating the anthemic synth and vocal leads from the original, brisk breaks and growling basses flip the tune on its head turning it into a sub-heavy summer striker.

Embarking on an interplanetary journey through bass-ridden black holes, powerhouse trio Kings Of The Rollers have stepped up with ‘Saturn’s Strings’, plus ‘The Prophet’ which marks Voltage’s first solo release on Hospital Records. The compilation also sees an exciting release from dance music duo My Nu Leng as they join forces with Dread MC on ‘Worldwide’, a tearout destroyer that draws for system shaking basslines.

Whilst they won’t be able to unite the Hospital family and wider drum & bass community this summer, Hospital Records and Hospitality continue to supply the highest calibre of music, no matter what the circumstances.

The aim of the project was simple: the advancement of the human genome. The creation of a faster, stronger, more capable being from the raw source material of life, the encoding of a biological program more sophisticated than any other that had come before it, creator or lack thereof be damned. Set to work on the project were the organization’s top minds, experts in the fields of experimental medicine, biology, genomics and evolutionary theory. Working in secret under the benign neglect of the organizations public eye, their experiments pushed the very limits of the sciences they employed, as well as the morality that they all held quite fortunately in questionable regard.

From vats, replicators, test tubes, and centrifuges, these secretive experts bore forth forms of life never before seen, creating creatures both beautiful and terrifying, beings of undeniable superiority and of unimaginable horror born together as twins. Humanoids hybridized with multispecies genomes came forth in forms from fungal to animalistic, merged in unspeakable ways that stood in stark contrast to the hippocratic oath some present held upon the surface world. Down here in the depths of both earth and depravity, such concerns mattered not in the face of sheer technological and biological progress. Such was their task the VARIATION IN PRODUCTION of the multifaceted human genome.
