In a lair of dereliction their bones lay, a place spoken of only in whispers – an unholy ground filled with the restless dead… The patient bones and rotting flesh of unspeakable horrors waiting only to feed on the living. He perched upon the barren ledge, high above the valley beyond – the place where his people had resided for an aeon of peace, withdrawn from the overwhelming technologies of the outer rim, hiding in the obscurity of tranquility. The habitat below was a mere dot against his retina, his imagination doing the work in constructing an image of the bustle of the many lives within. He carried with him the sacred resin, and carried within himself the rite of his people, handed down between generations for as long as their history could remember. His sacrifice would ensure the peace of a generation more - his torment would be their strength. Civilizations that had come before tore themselves into pieces - times of peace held the unspoken lies of restrained savagery, the bitter truth of which came frequently, and bloodily as brothers and sisters set upon each other with unbridled hatred. That dark ferocity was within him now, carefully extracted from the minds of the populace by the ancient methods, he was the vessel of his peoples’ catharsis. He hesitated a moment more, looking out to the distant peaks that had touched the heart of his eye since childhood, the gravity of the setting sun drawing his soul to the gold crested radiance of their summits. With a fluid motion he poured the resin down his gullet, felt it snaking through is entire being, searing the illumination of universal history deep within him. The staggering truths towered beyond him, twisting up in harmony before splitting, the many faces of darkness emerging, the true face of nature erupting in blackness, the unimaginable horrors that inhabit plains untouchable, the fiends that feed off life and light and invisibly, that grow in suffering… they felt his sight, knew they were exposed, their eyes turning inward to his psyche – tearing him apart, pushing through his body and erupting from within. The resin did its work… as the creatures unspeakable feasted on him across dimensions, roots burst from his ruined body, branches spiraling up trapping all in their path. A silence settled on the outcrop, nature threaded its fingers of wind through new grass, whilst the sun set against horrific merging of life and the terrifying living monument of DIVERGENCE.

Untold millennia of annihilation lay in the wake of the abomination. Its timeless reach stretched across countless generations through fables of its legacy. The deep tremor of each ruthless touch it lay upon mankind’s destiny cast a long and terrible shadow through the many lives denied, the many stories that would remain forever untold. The flesh of each man’s future, torn by early entropy, reduced to dust – vitality joining the dank earth and with each that fell sank the lives of children that would never be. The horror had no name, born of pure, ill anger – a hate filled spirit without a shred of love, save for that which it carried for its brother, death. Waiting for the meaningless rivalries of man to erupt in war, it wakes at the brink of battle, feeding from fear and the cruel hearts of men as they wait with nervous agitation at the edge of slaughter. Their minds so fixated on killing their brothers, they barely notice as dark clouds roll across their battlefield, blotting out the sun and bathing all in the filthy bloodlight. Pushing their lust for death across the brink of reason, each side charging without fear at their enemy’s spears, the unutterable sounds of battle climaxing as its brother, the reaper, starts to swing. Descending into the chaos and slipping between the shadows, the abomination moves without mercy, twin blades moving without rest, writing in the language of carnage on the bodies of men. The horror of its work complete - it drinks in the silence that settles across the battlefield as all lie still, its hatred resonating in the quiet… the MASSACRE beyond it cutting deep.

AGRESSOR BUNX have torn an exceptional groove over the past few years, with previous releases on EATBRAIN including THE ORDER EP and their PROPERTIES OF ADDITION LP leaving a serious impression on the drum and bass community. Following the fiery success of his ‘Warpath’ LP, an immense package of tracks that identified how Maztek was still a mainstay producer within the darker soundscapes of drum & bass, Maztek is about to return. The album broke the news of his 0101 Records label, a base for Maztek and one which hasn’t just showcased his own sonic artillery. It’s also brought in a trove of producers who’ve all shown their flair for electronic music, although only the darker kind which has infiltrated many playlists throughout the European continent, as well as further afield across the Atlantic. And one primary reason for this is how powerful his music has proven to be when flung through stacked speakers, infiltrating even the most niche spaces to cause the upmost chaos on dancefloors.

This next release is Maztek’s first EP for 2019, not only following ‘Warpath’ but also his ‘Uncoded’ release in the latter half of last year. ‘4 the Ravers’ represents Maztek’s background as a DJ, something which he’s just as notorious for as his music, with the producer having travelled extensively with sound systems before he began working within more formal venue settings. Consisting of seven brand new cuts, ‘4 the Ravers’ journeys through an array of styles and delivers you at the helm of his production. From the clapping drums of ‘Wrecktified’, through to the half-time levels of ‘Ghost Track’, Maztek flaunts his versatile style. ‘Ultrafunkular’ lends itself to its name through deliberately placed grooves, whilst lyrical MC Coppa adds his gruff-vocals to ‘Real Mobs’. Maztek’s ‘R4v3r5’ matches the same staunchly honed production as the remaining tracks, then ‘Dngrs’ follows suit in a similar vein, punching hard with every slamming segment. ‘Babylon’ comes through with a speed that tackles you unaware before you’re taken into each seismic build up alongside its dizzying forces. However, it’s not the cookie-cutter shape which some darker producers have a penchant for and it’s complex layering means you’re taken through each lumbering step as the record progresses. Maztek sets out the path of 0101 Records for this year and it’s one which has already had scorching results.

He’s made himself heard already this year and with a release schedule stretching out into the summer, Maztek is about to capitalize on a rocketing launch.

The remnants of the great battle lay strewn as shreds across the meadow, the multi-faceted carcass of a climatic moment of a conflict long forgotten. The remains of those who had fought for their respective worthless causes now overshadowed by the bleak visage of fate. Legends spoke of the battle as the only one known to have occured with no victor. Each warrior slain on one side was said to be repaid by the death of his equal on the other, as though the melee was arbitrated by some unnatural force. At the battle’s termination there remained none but the two great leaders of the factions, who continued their personal onslaught through the strength of their intense hatred alone. Amongst the corpses of their compatriots they dueled, equally matched in both skill and fury and finally, equally they fell, each slipping his opponent’s guard in the same instant, as both felt their sword plunge through the other’s heart. The place was twice cursed it was told, once by the unnatural force that had presided over the slaughter, and once by the slaughter itself. Unlike most of their kind, these legends held truth, for this field was the lair of the malevolent AGRESSOR.

The being had lurked there from time immemorial, its existence a relic of a long forgotten age. Condemned to this waste for its timeless aggression, it had lingered on beyond the disappearance of its kind. Its hunger for anguish lured countless warriors to its meadow, their conflict a delectable feast for the spirit unseen. From each fallen fighter was riven its emotion, strengthening the being as it continued to feed. The magnitude of the battle had sated it for some time, and it would slumber again through multiple ages of man until that hunger arose once again… and when it did, the DEATH MEADOW would lure souls afresh.
