Next up on eatmybeat is Birmingham’s own, Delta. We’ve had a keen eye on this guy for some time, particularly as his flavour draws from the broad sound palette that eatmybeat specialises in, to include dubstep, UK bass, grime and techno. This is best expressed by his recent mix for Innamind Recordings on Bristol platform SWU, or by his recent releases on Locus Sound and LDH Records. On this occasion, Delta serves up two original plates, complete with a flip from EMB longtime collaborator, Kahter.

Kicking things off with the project’s namesake “Samphire”, Delta seamlessly unites delicate grooves and skippy drums with decadent low end. The summer-time melodies somewhat disguise the distinctly deep bass tones, all made more inviting by the pitched down vocal patterns, drawing reference to dub and hip-hop culture.

Almost in stark contrast we have “Extortionate Rhythm” which should make the intention clear from the name alone! The listener is lured down subterraneous trenches, guided by luminous melodies and bright vocal stabs. Delta doesn’t hold back on the sound design, exceptionally creative with the drum patterns and bass slaps, which uplift the tension and provide an unmistakable swing. This one is a secret weapon!

Finally, Kahter does what he does best, taking an idea and flipping it on its head. His UK Techno inspired remix of “Extortionate Rhythm” goes hard on the drumwork, exploiting the melody to create an ominous atmosphere, all while still staying true to the original’s danceable energy.
