The McLemore Detachment 324 of the Marine Corps League is mobilizing the community to come together aboard the USS Texas to honor our veterans who remember and were present at this epic battle at Iwo Jim (Mount Suribachi) and to promote the legacy of the United States Marine Corps and its community. SUGAR LAND, TX – November 10, 2025 — Despite the government shutdown that canceled Fleet Week and the Marine Corps Band concert at Jones Hall, local Marines are carrying on with tradition in true Devil Dog fashion. The 250th Marine Corps Birthday will be celebrated at Talyard Brewing Co., 1033 Imperial Blvd, Sugar Land, TX, with a Cake Cutting Ceremony and “To the Corps” Toast honoring 250 years of Marine Corps excellence.

Doors open at 1700, the Cake Cutting Ceremony begins at 1900, and the live “To the Corps” Toast takes place at 2000. The event is open to all Marines, family, and friends — no entry fee. Uniforms are optional but encouraged, with casual Marine Corps business attire requested.

“The Marines have landed, and the situation is well in hand,” reads the invitation, reflecting the spirit of the Corps’ proud legacy.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to secure the limited “To the Corps” Commemorative Set, featuring a hand-rolled 250th birthday cigar, a custom shot glass made from a 25mm Bushmaster casing, a 50ml bottle of Devil Dog Whiskey, and a 250th Challenge Coin engraved with the Tun Tavern script. Proceeds benefit Wheelchairs for Warriors.

Production is limited to 300 sets, priced at $100 each. Orders can be placed by texting “To the Corps” to (713) 503-2243.
