The Island season 1, episode 6

Dive into the haunting rhythms of Lyke Paws' latest work, "The Wrist Note". Echoes of urgency pulse through every beat, a sonic reminder that time slips through our fingers like sand. Let the melodies guide you through a journey of acceptance, where the wrist note becomes a plea for a moment's pause.

What is The Island? In short, it is an effort in autodidactic study of music production, spanning the whole process from inspiration to publication. To not drown in the ocean of possibilities, I saved myself to the island of creative limitation. It is a limitation of tools, which encourages getting to know them inside out, and I’ll start with my favourite DAW, Ableton Live – and Ableton Live only.

The Wrist Note

This song was improvised using MPE multi-touch to control analog modeled synths through a Frippertronics looper.  It was first performed at the Stellar Lounge astronomy concert which was a collaboration with the Colorado State Parks and Wildlife.

In other words, the song is inspired by experiencing the vast night sky.
