Jeremy Narby – On Intelligence and Nature

A long time ago, I spent a couple of years living with Asháninka people in the Peruvian Amazon. These are people who know a lot about plants and moss. In fact, they have a name in their language for just about every species that lives in the forest.

But they spoke of plants and animals in a way I found unusual – as intelligent beings with personalities and intentions, who shared kinship with humans.

They even called some species "Asháninka," which was their word for themselves, meaning "our people" or "our relatives."
So, white herons were Asháninka. Many plants were our sisters. Small birds were our many brothers. Armadillos were brothers-in-law.
The Asháninka tended to personify other species and relate to them through kinship.

It turned out, this view was fairly common among Amazonian peoples.
But it took me a long time to come to grips with the fact that the word "intelligence" was human-centered — and so was the word "nature."

Dejan aka N Λ T U R I T U is for us a musician with shamanic qualities. His positive intentions can be felt and heard in all his sets.
He manages to interweave ethno sounds with modern sounds in such a way that traditional and modern, sensitive and powerful harmonize perfectly.
Today at the new moon N Λ T U R R I T U accompanies us into the first phase of the moon cycle, a good moment to plant new things...... with the ideal soundtrack.

Echoes from N Λ T U R R I T U - MATERIA PRIMA. For me, music is synonymous with the first vibration born from silence. The first and most direct from the source of being. The first matter - the primordial matter - will determine everything we experience, know, think and know from that moment on. Depending on the use of alchemy, healing or destruction happens from here. To listen to music and especially to create a sound journey means for me to follow this thread, to find a way to the source of existence, to the primordial. To what everything in this world turns: to the omnipresent harmony. In addition, I would like to point out again and again that this happens in harmony. Harmony means to bring opposites together. Dissolving our thinking of opposites. Letting go of our differentiation of things, instead recognizing the connections and commonalities. ALL IS RELATED - according to Jeremy Narby in his lectures. This knowledge is as old as humanity itself. We are allowed to remember again what we are, what this planet is all about, how we live in peace and most importantly where we come from - just follow the sounds to silence.

This musical soul-tapestry – filled with many waves, breaking me open deeper to Life, and all her mysterious cycles--has taken me over 1 years to weave: many many cycles of letting go, sheddings, dying and being re-born with mud and grace, in order to meet this precious Life as it is, with all of it's spectrums. 

These times we are currently living in are filled with countless opportunities to break down and/or to break open:  it is my deep prayer for humanity that we continue to find beauty, grace and empowerment in all that is breaking/crumbling/transforming, inside and outside of us...this musical tapestry is a prayer for the Human Spirit, and for the seeds we plant for the generations to come.

I dedicate this mix to the eternal Life of Liv: thanking you for your presence, your love, your grace, for breaking open human hearts to life...I dedicate this musical prayer to Liv's parents: may they be graced by this eternal love, in all moments of this precious Life.
