The latest installment of our Exclusive Mix series is brought to you by Nottingham via London producer Citizen, who made his debut a year ago on Kerri Chandler's then-recently unveiled Madtech sublabel.

In that short span of time, he's developed a production style that blends brash '90s references with more modern and often breakdown-oriented song structures. 2012 saw the release of Room Service, his Love Fever debut, and now he's back on the London imprint with the Trax EP.

Synkro x Echo Festival Exclusive Mix #028

The Fear of Flying Records headhoncho delivers us an excellent mix this week as we get closer to Echo Festival - 3 weeks left!

Known to his friends as Ben Micklewright, BLM has been topping the bill at London nights for many years. After growing up on some of garage’s finest names (including our all time favourite Todd Edwards) he began focusing his attention on music production in 2004. Since then he has developed an intoxicating house rhythm that will be perfect for setting off the dance floor at Echo this year.  BLM’s idiosyncratic take on deep, minimal house (whether it be the garage influence clearly evident in his work or the irreverent track titles) is a breath of fresh air from the earnest posturing of many a serious producer. 

His Fear Of Flying imprint has hit a recent run of form releasing underground gems from Shenoda, Huxley, Jozif, Ivano Tetelepta, Roger Gerressen as well as BLM himself and is about to clock up its 50th release in 5 years. From the ever intriguing work of Schatrax to the fresh sounding Romanian beats that pepper the label’s discography, BLM’s willingness to support producers that think outside the box is clearly evident. Ben has also released on established labels including Tsuba, Underground Quality and more recently with the esteemed secretsundaze imprint.

BLM will be performing alongside Citizen and Youandewan on the LBC Showcase 9th June.

Rico Casazza has a varied musical background of classical, soundtrack and dub, but his core interest is quality, 4/4 house and techno. After moving to London in the late ‘90s, he established a name for himself as a DJ and producer through his music and performance. His style centers on deep atmospherics, bright as well as stoned melodies and lazy ambiences, with a subtle twist of tension.
