Primary [colours] life begins with the Echo Inspector's creation, Lunar Shadows. Exploring the depths of space, Lunar Shadow’s form begins humble, discreet, with its stealth like kick forming structure around dark matter, playful hats, deep sub and intertwining textures and layered frequencies. Life emerges organically, evolving before it takes one final deep breath and re-emerges capable and built for the un-yielding journey ahead before finally completing its calling.

﻿Lunar Shadow’s second incarnation comes by the way of the talented Luke Hess [DeepLabs/Echocord/FXHE].  Lunar Shadows finds new life with its forceful techno pattern.  Gritty, warm chords layer themselves over an insistent rhythm while off beat micro-organisms keep stride. Gentle pads envelop and grow in authority, weaving their way through the groove, creating power, tension and intensity - consequently leading Lunar Shadows to become an everlasting memory before finally waning and leaving you wanting for more.

Over the ages the Moon has helped us describe everything from rarity, love and lunacy. This release is another interpretation by us to the overstanding sphere in the sky.

Primary [colours] is proud to follow up their Blue release with another fantastic, LIMITED, vinyl only treat. Echo Inspectors’, ‘Ghost Flight’, is chosen for the RED release in this 3 colour series.  With a philosophical notion, Ghost Flight is an eclectic journey into deep, dubby techno. This scratchy, stepping, techno groove is surrounded by rootsy elements accompanied by superb bass.  The delayed, washy elements and soul grabbing overtone are all superlative in aggregation – “a spirit of an age to which no one can return.”

Salz Dub has certainly salted up the flavor on this release.  With their unique signature of swinging dub tech they deliver a faithful yet revived edit of ‘Ghost Flight’.  This track sucks you in for the whole journey!  The infectious groove, vocal edit and drop are nothing short of fantastic.

The Echo Inspector's summon the "Apparition" as it weaves its way through the shadows of darkness, brushing by in its anomalous state. Spirits build as "Apparition" attempts to take physical form, stepping through its shadow, breaking through to the other side. Ghostly sounds attempt to breach through, eerie voices struggle, striving to be heard in the living world from the dark side. As quickly as it appears "Apparition' returns back to its underworld to be summoned once more. 
 
"Apparition" is called upon again from a mysterious, shady figure of the underworld. Lurking, waiting patiently to be heard. Rising from the shadows is the one and the only Dean DeCosta. Thought to have left the fellowship, "Apparition", while surprised to hear Dean's calling, is familiar with his energy. A more aggressive interpretation is adopted for this crossing over. "Apparition" breaks the line, struggling to take breath, in, out, in and out. Grittier, darker, distorted frequencies form as the energy builds before coming to rest, stuck between the physical and spirit worlds.

Eosophobia - A morbid fear of daylight. A title fitting of Primary [colours] latest release by the Australian duo, the Echo Inspectors. Conceived in the late dark hours of an autumn night, Eosophobia is a creation of strange, disturbing, sinister and unearthly energies that thrive in the night, only to withdraw when dawn breaks through the dark sky. Entities materialize around the eerie force, delicate and shy, these beings thrive in the dark. Their conviction becomes powerful as the night sky turns a darker shade of black, pulsating and heaving to create a sub sonic soundscape for the creatures of the night. Life is short lived as dark turns to light, scampering in to the shadows only to return for another venture.
 
Resoe, Copenhagen's ruler of the deep and dub, takes control of this creation of the night. Forming and reconstructing it in to a more powerful, ravenous creature of darkness. Fear of light fuels this being to become menacing, unstable and unpredictable. Vigor builds swiftly, seething as the cold autumn night goes on. Confidence only grows stronger and stronger as the night feeds its hunger only to be destroyed with a sudden shard of light, withering to oblivion.

Echo Inspectors’ “Parable” opens the ep. With a great selection of sound elements and an analogue drum set, the Melbourne based duo made a fusion of Dub and Detroit Techno. It´s the sound we love from their releases on their own Primary [Colours] imprint as well as from our Etui Winter Camp Compilation.
