The forest stretched for miles and miles, the vibrant green ferns stood to attention, sheltering the untouched woodland below. It housed all manner of animals and plant life; squirrels jumped from tree-to-tree and insects buzzed in unison, while herds of deer leaped between trunks, finding a perfect resting spot to waste the day away. It was a magical place to live, one unspoiled by the greed of mankind. Human civilisation was nowhere to be found and that's the way its inhabitants hoped it would stay.

Monibi is a lover of all things bass. The French producer and DJ cut her teeth playing the DJ circuit in Cologne, the city where she also worked as co-curator for DIY label and collective Baumusik, before recently settling in the German capital. This label was the home of her first release back in 2019, and now three years on she's gearing up for her sophomore EP coming out via Barcelona's Diffuse Reality. Forest Love showcases Monibi's versatility over five tracks, the bass is omnipresent but each cut has its own distinct flavour. Recorded during lockdown, the release fuses different influences which take us on a trip through atmospheric dub-wise rhythms, anthemic 90s deep house, tech rollers and emotive electro.

PREMIERE: Monibi - New World [Diffuse Reality Records]

Éclat Crew has been hard at work changing the face of the Berlin music industry ever since 2018, when the collective for female, trans and nonbinary electronic music producers was first established.

Producers and DJs from Éclat have been making waves both in Berlin and internationally. This compilation is the first official collection of work from this dynamic and diverse community of artists.

The title: “Eclat: A Constellation Of Party Balloons Floating On A Deep Sea Saline Lake” perfectly encapsulates this ever-shifting yet dazzling collection of tracks, ranging from the ambient stillness of [ ] to the banging techno of [ ]. There’s a track for every taste in this collection. 

In the spirit of the collective, which invites producers of all levels together to make music alongside each other, the compilation features releases from established nightlife names like Nathalie Capello, Monibi and Acidfinky, alongside newcomers releasing their very first tracks.

Éclat Crew invites you to celebrate the release of the compilation with them at Fitzroy on Sunday 20 November.

Terri Lee is a Midwest-born, Westcoast-raised DJ and producer. Currently residing in Berlin, she’s woven narrative and listener-centric sets for underground dancefloors from San Diego to Paris to Berlin. 

Her music aims to take listeners on an unconventional journey and she hopes to sprinkle her sets with moments of nostalgia, elation and psychedelic hypnosis.

To wrap up the year, W133 has put together its second Various Artist release featuring a diverse lineup of emerging and established artists. 

Kicking off the EP is the French producer Monibi, offering a groovy and bass-heavy breakbeat track titled "Mahsa Amini." This track serves as a call to fight for women's rights, not only in Iran but around the world.

On A2, San Francisco-based Kudeki showcases her love for tripped-out Techno with "Cursive." This mesmerizing track, featuring a relentless bassline and a 4/4 kick, creates a spooky atmosphere.

On the flip side, label head Pino Peña teams up with samwho from Rotterdam to deliver a percussive power workout. "Jacarandas," named after the purple trees in CDMX, definitely has those Latin American vibes and rhythms that will get you moving.

For the closer of the EP, speed dembow heavyweight Siu Mata delivers a fast-hitting tribal bomb called "Dubiquity," which takes you on a journey through dramatic pads and spaced-out percussions.

The release is, as always, complemented by pictures taken by analogue photographer Freya Gerz and is available on vinyl with fully printed cover sleeves as well as digitally.

“Corona ate my dollaz”, an electro-bass infused roller, is Monibi’s first single since her debut EP “Faux Pas” released in 2019 on Cologne collective-label baumusik. Former Red Light Radio Amsterdam resident, she now hosts her monthly radio show “Etcetera” on community radio THF in Berlin.
