In this episode of Released Control we have the one and only James Tristan, who has prepared a mesmerising one-hour vinyl-only mix filled with obscure 90s gems, ranging from Progressive House, Euro House to Techno. Followed by a one-hour mix by radio host Eclectic Elektra, who dove deep into her collection for some old school House, Prog and Trance goodies.
The Nottingham based DJ and avid vinyl collector has over 10'000 records of old and new gems, which he happily shares with the world on his instagram vinyl blog. He recently started a new event series Electroground, bringing quality music to Nottingham mirroring the blend of genres from his mixes and vinyl collection. Thanks so much for recording this fabulous mix. How did you go about it?

[JT]: I started to pull out records a few weeks back and ended up with about 30. I played around with them for a couple of days and narrowed it down to 14. It took me three times to record it. I kept messing up one of the mixes. Lol.

What style of music do you play?

[JT]: I play two styles, new and old. Sometimes they fit together, other times I will just stick to one type. The newer stuff is mainly Trippy House and Techno. The older stuff ranges from Acid House, Italo House through to Euro, Prog and Techno. The mix for your show is all old 90’s records.

Have you ever played in Berlin?

[JT]: No, I was booked earlier this year but annoyingly the event got cancelled. I’ve visited 4 times over the years clubbing though. I made it to Bar 25 before it sadly closed. My last visit mainly consisted of a trip to Berghain which is still really good.

What do you have coming up for the rest of the year?

[JT]: I’ve got some guest spots in Barcelona and London coming up. Also, my new party in my adopted home city of Nottingham starts on the 14th October.

This year we kick off Released Control with a blissful one hour mix by Arlanoa, full of house, prog & breakbeat goodness, and lots of hidden gems guaranteed. The second hour Eclectic Elektra takes over the booth to showcase some of her favorite records she discovered in 2023.

Arlanoa has two loves: rave music and vinyl records. This French DJ and producer decided to settle in Berlin, where he gave birth to the Supertonic collective, synonymous with colorful and euphoric parties. When he takes control of the turntables, he immerses us in an intoxicating mix where house, trance, breakbeat, and many other rhythms unleash in harmony.

Through her distinctive genre-defying sound which blends dreamy progressive house with techno and proto-trance she often catches the listener by surprise.

For the first hour of this episode of Released Control we are stoked to have the very talented producer & DJ E-Talking live on the show, playing some of the finest Cosmic Trance and Progressive House tunes, including some unreleased tracks and obscure 90s gems. Followed by a one-hour mix by radio host Eclectic Elektra, who selected some of her favorite new and old school House and Prog records.

One half of French duo Nummer alongside long-time friend and partner-in-crime Silvère Letellier, Emmanuel Corre has begun a new chapter in his musical career under the moniker of E-Talking. Inaugurating that new path, his debut instalment as E-Talking came through the high-flying Blue Series of London's finest, AD93.

Released as a split in 2018, “Téléphone Rose” marked a shift from Nummer’s compositions but no betrayal towards their respective aspirations. A full-fledged left-of-centre club weapon designed to swash in the club with unrelenting novelty effect, the track makes for a ravishingly disparate patchwork of Emmanuel’s influences, from blazing, acid-informed electronics to bassy deconstructionism, via revamped house and techno tropes.

Emmanuel’s formative years at London’s reputed record store, Kristina Records, helped him forge the distinctive, all-embracing approach that can be felt through his sets and material, as made further obvious on his maiden full-length from 2021 for Going Good, “Techno Man’s Land”.

Mapping his own route at large from normative barricades, E-Talking has been gathering momentum with his latest EP “The Cosmic Egg” released in September 2023 on Paramida’s Love On The Rocks imprint. In the wake of his acclaimed two-year residency on Rinse France and in parallel to regular appearances on HÖR, Emmanuel’s line of action is just about to reveal in all its glorious scope and scale, so better keep your ear to the ground.

For this episode of Released Control, we are super excited to have a guest mix by NairLess, who is one of our favorite producers and selectors inspired by old school 90’s early trance, balearic and progressive house. The second hour with radio host Eclectic Elektra as always. Tune in for a 90 min blissful excursion of energetic and euphoric tunes of the 90s dance era.
Born in Vietnam, raised in France. NairLess is an assiduous producer, DJ, live performer and pianist. Before his electronic music journey, he studied and learnt to master the piano at the age of 4.
He moved on to electronic music in 2017 by starting the production of dreamy house music. He also integrated the collective “L’Appart Music” with which he had his first mixes.
In 2018, he co-founded the label “Aurore 404” which organized and still organizes parties in notorious Parisians clubs such as Nouveau Casino, NF-34 & Garage and released rising artists such as Gallegos and Pépé Elle and confirmed ones such as Ian Pooley.
In 2022, his music has evolved to fast paced but still smooth and hovering electronic music with a firm inspiration on old school 90’s early trance, balearic and progressive house.
He is currently released on labels such as Increase The Groove, Chikyu-u Records, Aurore 404, Nerang Recordings & Radiant Records.

While summer is already in full swing, we have compiled the perfect soundtrack for your sunset or sunrise parties. Here is Smiling Comp Vol.1, featuring 8 tracks that reflect our influences, ranging from Balearic and progressive to electro and trance vibes, created by local and international artists we've encountered on our travels.

The compilation opens with a progressive piano track by @breezysmusic, evoking a nostalgic vibe from years before we were even born. "Insomnia 92" is followed by "Some Magnetic Way" by @geo-taguchi, capturing the perfect Balearic summer mood. Next is @doubluremusic with "Looping Loop," a close friend who once again proves he’s a top-notch electro producer.

Some of our co-founders are also featured in the compilation, each showcasing their unique talents: "Call It a Day" by @arvemusic highlights his electro and rock inspirations, while @nairless-music makes a striking return with "Celestial Infinity," ideal for an afternoon in Tisno for those in the know.

We then enter peak dancefloor euphoria with the progressive "Spellbound," the debut release from @eclectic_elektra! @aidenfrancis needs no introduction; his energetic "Pomona Beach" definitely sets the tone for an endless summer. Finally, our dear friend @shader_dj perfectly closes this compilation with "Nighcrawler," leading us into a trancey and nostalgic atmosphere until the end of the night.

Eclectic Elektra has cultivated a diverse musical palette through her record-digging adventures across a multitude of countries. Her sets showcase her eclectic taste, artfully blending old-school house, disco, Balearic beat, and tribal percussion with cosmic and progressive soundscapes, taking dancers on a high-powered journey.

Eclectic Elektra has brought her distinctive sound to some of Berlin’s most iconic venues such as Globus/Tresor, Renate, Sisyphos, Lighthouse Plötzensee and Zur Klappe, and is now beginning to reach clubs across Europe. As the co-founder of Cosmic Circuit (@cosmiccircuitbln), she’s passionate about fostering a sense of community and inclusivity in nightlife, creating spaces for sharing knowledge, creativity and emerging talent. She is also the co-founder of ÍNTIMO, an event series dedicated to warm, soulful sounds and connection on the dancefloor.

Through her regular radio show, Released Control on RBL Berlin (@rblmedia), she explores 80s and 90s house music with special guests. This vintage sound is also starkly present in her debut track released on the Parisian label Smiling Phases. With new music in the works and ever-evolving inspiration, Eclectic Elektra is set to explore new creative territories.
