In July 2010, I got an invitation to play at a small but neat festival named Folk Ibiza. It was my first visit to the island. I got to spin at a bunch of different locations, such as the Hostal Boutique Salinas, Sunset Ashram, and on the terrace at Space. I returned in September of the following year to play a set on Andy Wilson's show on Ibiza Sonica and a second time at the Hostal. I have not been back to Ibiza since. I recently came across this picture (taken at Cala Compte next to Sunset Ashram), which inspired me to make this mix. I tried to sonically capture the vibe that I felt back then. It includes some bona fide classics such as Ashra "Oasis“, Santana "Aqua Marine," and Jah Wobble & Holger Czukay "Hold On To Your Dreams," as well as tunes by Smith & Mudd, Begin, Quiet Village and more. We're closing out 2024 with a selector that perhaps needs no further introduction, but in case you've been living under a rock for the past 15 years, we are extremely excited to present the next Idle Cellars mix by the one and only EDDIE C! Mr. C (NOT THAT ONE) is, in our esteemed opinion, one of the best DJ's in the entire world and we're crazy stoked to have him as the next IC mix for your listening pleasure. Canada-born & Berlin-bred, Eddie has been gallivanting all over the globe as a musical expert in a world of tourists, ready to spread good vibes and his sparkling personality (plus that Canadian politeness we always hear about) to the four corners of the planet. 

His resume is, frankly, ridiculous. As a producer and "editor", Eddie is responsible for countless fantastic releases across disco edit labels like his own RED MOTORBIKE, COMMON EDIT, 7 INCHES OF LOVE, KOLOUR LTD, SLEAZY BEATS, LUMBERJACKS IN HELL and many, many more, plus he's been fully embraced by the Japanese contingent with many releases on MULE sublabel ENDLESS FLIGHT as well as CRUE-L & SOUNDOFSPEED. The man's discography as a producer is as wide as it is deep and he continues to be extremely active with new remixes or originals coming out regularly.

DJ-wise our boy has the chops to be dropped into any situation and rock the party, whether that's at Cafe Del Mar, Panoramabar, the Sunset Campout or dodgy mafia-run nightclubs in deepest Eastern Europe. To put it succinctly, he is...THE MAN. 

We think Eddie C is a perfect closer to our year. Thanks for coming along with us on these journeys, and we hope you can give us a subscribe and stay tuned - we have some seriously cool things happening for 2025 so don't sleep, and have a wonderful holiday season and New Year. I have always found a certain joy when listening to Fleetwood Mac. From mainstream to melancholy, their music is library of likes and a boost in any situation. 

So for our first dedicated Room Service set, I decided mix of some favorite Fleetwood Max edits and remixes. Often when I am djing for less patient crowds and I feel like the dancefloor needs a pick me up, I play one of these songs ;). 

So as gypsy queen herself put it best,  “we’re back to the velvet underground…”

Born and raised in South London, Dr. Rob now resides / hides in the mountains of Japan. For over a decade, together with Max Essa, and Ken Hidaka, he’s been hosting the Lone Star parties held at Bar Bonobo, in the Harajuku district of Tokyo. The three friends recently complied the “chart topping” Oto No Wa album for Music For Dreams - the Danish label for whom Rob also produces a weekly radio show. Rob has another long-running program, The Remedy, broadcast every Thursday and Saturday evening on his local station, FM Karuizawa. Dr. Rob contributes to Electronic Sound Magazine and Faith Fanzine, and writes for, and runs, the Ban Ban Ton Ton blog.
