Just in time to warm up your winter, Hell Yeah revisit the peerless recent Tsuki album from ambient and Balearic masters Tempelhof & Gigi Masin. 

It is Corner Song that gets remixed by Good Timin’ and Running Back man Jex Opolis. Famous for his disco infused synth pop sound he is a master of his own musical world. His version is eight minutes of laid-back tropicalia. Slowly churning drums and knotted funk-bass prop it up as an eco-system of pops, clicks and hits add to the steamy and sensuous groove.

PREMIERE : Talking Drums - Get Serious

From the man who runs Hell Yeah Recordings and the edit man from the Balearic Gabba Soundsystem comes this vinyl only edit series, now unleashing its second release.

The first sold out in quick time, with great feedback from a wide range of DJs (from Locodice to Prins Thomas), and the second is likely to do the same: taking two classic tracks, Italian producer Enzo Elia channels his love of all thing Balearic and re-edits for the modern day.

Enzo has been a music loving vinyl obsessive since his teens, with productions on esteemed labels like Hell Yeah, Engrave, Lion1Music, and support for them coming in from the likes of Osunlade, DJ Hell, Carl Cox and Kenny Larkin. On his Balearic Gabba Edits Vol 2 release, though, he showcases a wider production skill than ever before…

The first edit is Problem by NOW NOW NOW, originally released back in 1991 and an affirmed classic for proper balearic headz.

Retaining the original’s synth smears, Enzo adds the patter of gentle congas, some micro-bacterial synth sounds and perfectly encapsulates whatever it is to be Balearic in the modern day.

The second is one of Ramirez’s lesser-known productions, Tambores from the 1993 album Terapia that also birthed better-known classics like Hablando. Here Enzo slows down and strips out the original into something with more humid percussion lines, tribal drums and filtered voices. It’s deep and organic house for the late night hours.

NOW NOW NOW - Problem (Enzo Elia Afro Neukolln Edit)

Lungile Masitha was the short-lived studio name for renowned SA artist Sello ‘Chicco’ Twala, who played with such iconic bands as Harari and Umoja. However, in the mid 80’s his name was under license to one of the major labels and in an effort for self-expression recorded under the name ‘Lungile Masitha’, here he linked up with long term friend Jimmy Mngwandi to co-write and arrange the two tracks ‘Vuyani’ & ‘Makoti’, both sung in his native Tsongan tongue. Vuyani is an upbeat tune that matches Chicco’s unique vocal style with percolating drums and distorted choruses to incredible effect, while Makoti is a mellower blend of floating keys and choruses sung by local kids in an effort to expose “emerging talent”. The good people at Maestro’s Records are bringing us an exciting official reissue of Northy
Davies’ “De D.J. Redde Mij Vannacht”. A delightful quirky take on Indeep’s classic “Last Night The DJ Saved My Life”. The original 7” single saw its first and last press in 1983, and recently has been in high demand amongst many avid diggers and collectors. Only a very limited amount of copies still exist worldwide. Along with the original cut on the A-side, we’re also treated by digger/DJ “Poko poko” on the flip. With his graceful edited version, containing stylish arrangements and subtle layering of drums and synths, we’re hitting the dancefloors ready to be saved! Only available on 7” 45 RPM vinyl, with fully restored artwork by Tom de Meer

eclectics is an independent record label & collective that is interested in what connects things rather than what divides them, be that music or people.

The collective, which began in 2015, has many facets to it, but the ethos behind it all is inclusiveness and creativity.
