Louise Baldwin, known under her alias Petals in Sound is a UK-based producer and DJ, fast forging a name for herself in the world of house music. After over a decade of living, working and partying in Southeast London, Petals In Sound relocated to Crosby in Liverpool where she now lives with her young family. Her unique sound has been described as atmospheric house combined with deep electronica. Not one to shy away from experimentation, Petals In Sound new EP Conceptualise' demonstrates her passion for progression and unearthing new sounds.

In October 2020, she released her well-received debut EP 'Palace’ on Miami/ Mexico-based label Boyanza Records, which included remixes by Bruise and Leigh D Oliver, gaining support from the likes of NTS Radio and Sloth Boogie Radio Show. Baldwin has gone on to release singles under DJ Spen’s imprint Unquantize Recordings (‘Dance’) and Manchester-based house label Applique Music (‘Night Flight’), the latter of which peaked at Number 13 in the Beatport ‘Best New Deep House’ chart.

Petals In Sound counts everyone from Daniel Avery to Chaos in the CBD as big influences and that was never more evident that in her 2022 EP 'Morning Light EP'. Released on Berlin’s Dirt Crew Recordings, the 4-track EP has undercurrents of melodic light techno crossed with jazz-packed influences giving essence to striking contrasting sounds.

Petals In Sound makes her debut on Glasgow/Bahrain label Dealt With Records with 'Conceptualise' exclusively on Bandcamp from 13th January 2022.

Leading the EP is ‘The Beauty and the Beat’, which combines a crunchy 4/4 pattern with lush chord stabs and a playful synth lead for an inviting start to the EP. ‘(But I still have) Fantasies’ follows, bringing broken,
Electro-tinged drums complete with fluttering arps, wriggling FX, and sweeping pads. ‘Eve’, a piano-led house jam of the highest order, closes proceedings with memorable hooks and funky, swinging percussion.

As bassist for dance-punk outfit The Rapture, Mattie Safer cut his teeth in the music scene alongside a wave of now-legendary early 2000s NYC acts like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem and more (a time period recently immortalized in the documentary film ‘Meet Me In The Bathroom.’) Fast-forward nearly 2 decades and Mattie has found the sweeter side of dance music as the current lead vocalist for slo-mo kings Poolside, and now he presents his solo lovetempo project on Razor-N-Tape.

A chilled-out singer/songwriterly affair, the lovetempo EP moves between organic laidback disco, modern bossa nova treatments, and Sade-esque grown-n-sexy jazz grooves. Hitting notes of both melancholy and positivity, Mattie’s plaintive vocals wind through all 4 of the original songs, delivering catchy and singable hooks. RNT regular Yuksek does what he does best, and takes the most uplifting tune of the pack into positively joyous hands-in-the-air territory with a stunning remix.

Hot on the heels of his recently released ‘Forever EP’ on Radio Slave’s evergreen Rekids, Eddie ‘Flashin’ Fowlkes returns to the label with ‘Bahama Man EP’, another four-track EP of red-hot danceﬂoor cuts. From the swinging opening title track through to the jacking low end of closer ‘Cube’, Eddie’s knack for crafting his unique style of club-friendly cuts is on full display across the record, some of his ﬁnest work to date.

We are super pleased to welcome back our Los Angeles friend Idan Hana! After his successful last release on our label featuring that great Ron Trent remix he presents an all new set of deep and eclectic tracks to us.

The opener “Mountain Peaks” is inspired by the vibrant energy of Italo disco. Capturing a joyful and uplifting mood with unique and unconventional micro synth sounds and class percussion Idan builds towards an infectious chord break down.
“Hidden Forest” is built around a drum sample and goes way deeper, shaped by the filtered drums and the Arpeggios it’s evoking the sensation of walking through a jungle and observing children playing joyfully. The goal was to create an immersive experience, capturing the essence of being in a forest.

“Rolling Hills” is best described in his own words: “When composing this track, I envisioned a spaceship visiting Earth. It all began with a catchy pattern I created on the OB-6 synthesizer. From there, I layered additional synth sounds and bass to give a full presence to my beloved OB-6. The result is a captivating blend of futuristic elements, combining intricate melodies with an otherworldly atmosphere.” You truly capture this feeling in the sound! Additional editing and mixing was done by Break 3000.

Now we get to “Panorama” that is Idan’s fave track of this EP. It combines elements of electro, soulful chords, and an overall sense of fun. The track maintains an ever-changing nature, keeping the listener engaged and curious throughout. For this composition, he predominantly used the MC-202, along with a few Korg plugins and his secret drum kit. A lovely electronic journey we think! And it is not only his favorite!

The cinematic “Ma Kore” is closing out this wonderful musical offering by Idan. It encapsulates a unique and mesmerizing melody, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in a world of pure musical expression.

The 25th release to come from Footjob, we are looking on a delicious eight track compilation which is guaranteed to bring heat to the dancefloors. Footure Classics Vol. 3 combines the label’s beloved quality sound of our resident artists and also welcomes a few new faces. The opener “Carry On” is delivered by The Dead Rose Music Company and sets the pace right away showcasing some good old on-point sample work. Head honcho Phonk D contributes two danceable collaborative tracks with Van Aachen (“Make A Change”) and Sascha Ciminiera (“Ortona Sunset”). Siggatunez and Rolf Royce also opt for a joint tune called “What We All Want” – a dreamy, yet still banging anthem for those special moments in the morning hours. Exploring new musical grounds, Lukas Lehmann puts his synths into heavy action for a stomping acidy approach, ironically dubbing it “No Sir, I Can’t Acid”. For those into Nu Disco Claus Casper serves his inciting and fun “Spaghetti Eyes” while Disco Sour provide a contemporary edit based on a 40-year-old classic. The compilation is rounded off by Most Haunted, who gently takes us back to 80s vibes with his "Timemachine", without missing to give the whole thing a modern twist.

If you'd told this ageing snob that either 'The Funky Phantom' or 'Basis' were long-lost DATs recently discovered in the basement of Eightball or Movin' Records, I'd have totally believed you...both have that New Jersey bump 'n' shuffle down to a fine art, with 'The Funky Phantom' the pacier and busier of the two while 'Basis' is a bit more stripped-back and bottom-heavy. Outstanding stuff!

Pushing a classic house tip with good vibes pads, sample selections, loops and tricks, Shabi gets '90s old school and French touch in his kicking title track. "Let's Talk Dancin'" offers some similar tricks, holding down a groove with a vocal hook to boot, while "I Feel It Comin'" does something some more soul and R&B. Dudu Bembe, is an experienced DJ from Medellín, Colombia, who has been a prominent figure in the local scene for 17 years. Recently, he has ventured into music production, and we’re excited to showcase his work for the 31st release on FRI with the EP "Low House Conspiracy".
The EP features two original tracks along with two incredible remixes by Crack D and Vertigini, each offering a unique interpretation of Dudu Bembe's music. The title track, "Low House Conspiracy", is a potent blend of dubby elements and house influences, featuring a bouncy, phased-out bassline and stabby piano stabs, all built on a dusty sample loop foundation.
Crack D’s remix takes the track in a deeper direction, emphasizing a floaty, lush atmosphere with rolling percussion and a deep sub-bassline. The second original track, "Si Quieres", created in collaboration with SKLLB, flips a classic disco sample into a mid-tempo slice of rolling disco-deep house warmth. Vertigini's remix adds a fresh layer of flair with an ear-catching, 90s-flavored UK garage sound.

So you'd imagine he'd know how to handle a decent disco groove, and you'd be right.  In keeping with his astrological name, there are two sides to this release, with 'Make Some Magic' proving a soul-drenched affair despite its looped up architecture, all Chic-style guitar pizazz and orgasmic horns impeccably arranged.  'Feels Like Home' on the flip is even more tremulous and celebratory, an authentic 70s disco vibe subtly fed through the Daft Punk/Roule filters-and-loops mincer.  Dancefloor catnip for sure.
