Tiella Sound @ LYL Radio, 21.10.2021 (feat. Luca Bigote)

Author, professor, party host, DJ and founder of Lucky Cloud Sound System, Tim Lawrence is internationally acclaimed for his knowledge about the NYC downtown music and party scene of the 1970s and 1980s, and in particular the influence of David Mancuso and his The Loft.

He shared what's behind his guestmix for Tiella Sound: "It's a session I was asked to record for a Mark Fisher tribute at the ICA in London. I tried to create a mix that would speak to Mark's sensibility as well as my own. Mark was into some sounds – more on the breakbeat/rave trip, that I wouldn't necessarily play at All Our Friends (the invite-only party he runs in London with Cyril Cornet, Jem Gilbert, Cedric Lassonde, ed.), but the mix came out reasonably well and I was quite pleased with the result. That event took place 30 January 2021".

Modeo started going to clubs in 2001, the time when industrial techno was getting more and more widespread. Igor Dourden's set on Psystem Error in 2002, Inigo Kennedy's track 'Preliminary Statements' , Patrik Skoog, Chris Liebing, Regis, Takaaki Itoh and his hypnotic techno, Tresor's releases, all had a great impact on him and they are still milestones in his musical approach.

His music is inspired by 2002's techno. Besides all of the musical influences, films, experiences from the dance floor and from real life, thoughts and dreams also tend to return in his works.Although the trends nowadays are changing continuously, he can keep the race while his message and style do not change.

Mace. continues its path of sound experimentation to dark and throbbing scenarios with this first EP entitled "The Heavens Are Already Theirs". After the electro cinematic "The Metamorphosis Through Dreams" (Further Records 2013) and the experimental/dark statement "The Wealth Of Nations" (Eclipse Music 2013) "The Heavens Are Already Theirs" looks like a set of tracks chronologically different from each other. The mixture of the elements combines the slow-tempo gloomy rhythms of tracks such as "Alcol" and "La Stasi" with the anxyolitic mood from the B sides tracks "Ballad" and "Il Vecchio Della Montagna". The cover artwork becomes itself the emblem of the EP. However, into this uniform dense substrate the tracks find their common denominator of emotional impact. Even the title "The Heavens Are Already Theirs" is a reference of lacerated sound of the songs in perfect balance between anxiety and darkness.

~ About The Story ~

I need the sea because it teaches me,
I don’t know if I learn music or awareness,
if it’s a single wave or its vast existence,
or only its harsh voice or its shining
suggestion of fishes and ships.
The fact is that until I fall asleep,
in some magnetic way I move in
the university of the waves.
It’s not simply the shells crunched
as if some shivering planet
were giving signs of its gradual death;
no, I reconstruct the day out of a fragment,
the stalactite from a sliver of salt,
and the great god out of a spoonful.

Healing Force Project's music is made of oneiric visions, unexplored landscapes and it's never connected with contemporary hype or music genres. Exprimental textures mixed with noise, distorted sounds and analog hypnotic rhythm patterns. Speaking of techno would be reductive even if the technology signature is openly declared by the use of drum machines pulsating at 4/4 beat. At the same time references to seventies  jazz are evident. Endless source of inspiration are the avant-garde sounds of the electric Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock, the afrofuturism of Sun Ra and the Egyptian ancient iconography.
Perihelion Transit project started in 2012 with the collaboration between Healing Force Project, Eclipse Music label and italian jazz player Giorgio Li Calzi.
The double album consists of eight songs that well representing the music scenario of the artist.
The disco one opening title "Moorg 3" is an electronic jazz made of Rhodes chords layered on percussive rhythms and pulsating bass sounds. "Soul Heart In A Punk Mind" reveals the experimental side of HFP's music, a chaotic collections of weird Mills style sounds perfectly balanced with syncopated drum rhythms. The third track "Illusione" puts the chaotic elements back in order, here the bpm become more pronounced, the techno element holds the keys improvisation under an obsessive tension. Perfect prologue to introduce the next track. "Oneirism" is a slow hypnotic swing where Giorgio Li Calzi's trumpet finds a perfect soundscape to shows its metamorphosis, now processed by digital effects in Jon Hassell style, then more conventional like standard jazz sound.
The second disc begins with another collaboration Healing Force Project / Giorgio Li Calzi. "Full Phontal" brings the previous track formula, but with fastest rhythm, the trumpet's improvisation become more isolated, the sound is reverberated, makes dialogue with the rhythm section farthest and the perception of space more marked. Here the sound journey moves at higher altitudes. In the second song "Alien Step" the composition becomes more abstract and mysterious, an ambient prelude to what is in fact the most techno track of the album "Dark Fragment". The album closes with "Toxic Experience In The Future City" more than eight minutes of experimental jazz, relaxed mood and languid keyboard chords accompany Li Calzi's trumpet in what is perhaps the most inspired song of the album, inspiration looking at the landmarks of the past but one step ahead in the future, into the unknown.
