Argentinian native Funk Off keeps our 2022 schedule moving as he makes his Black Seven Music debut this March with a killer two-track release - Roller. 

Blossoming out of a region renowned for its Deep & Tech House artists, rising talent Funk Off (AR) continues to make strides in the right direction with a stream of impressive releases on well respected electronic imprints. Adding to that tally, he touches down on Black Seven Music for the first time with a duo of emphatic dancefloor-ready stompers - what an introduction!

‘Roller’ is first up, bringing along a heavyweight arrangement and boisterous persona that you won’t forget in a hurry. Thumping drum work and crystal clear percs build the perfect blend of punch and flow, whilst roaring sub-bass adds even more movement to the depths of the track. A hooky rap vocal flows throughout, whilst a secondary vox is twisted and stretched alongside a climactic and sawing synth - before hammering in another furious drop and pushing you back into its groove. 

‘High Wire’ comes next with even more cadence and energy. Driving rhythms take charge from the outset, with a strong core of kicks, bass notes and sampled hand drums keeping you plugged in. Another dominant rap vocal features heavily in the bridge sections of the track, whilst rising melodies build suspense - leading to compelling dives and plenty of robust grove-focused segments.

Merseyside based artist Copasetic returns to Unnamed & Unknown with another impressive three-track release - Cold Steady. 

Making his way back to the label following his ‘Stratisfeel’ EP in 2021, UK talent Copasetic arrives with another statement offering to showcase his blossoming production capability. 

‘Cold Steady’ begins with the title track, diving straight into pacy grooves and rushing percussion. Blending movement with tone via a range of instrumental strikes - Copasetic’s distinguished rippling signature bounces off swirling vocal cuts and gritty melodic layers to create a shuddering body of danceable sound.

‘Super Fly’ sees Copasetic carve out a creative and well-thought-out musical journey. Breaking down a soulful sample and moulding an entire track seamlessly around it is no small feat; he strikes his movement-invoking musical persona effortlessly straight through the middle of it- with pleasant effect. 

‘Head Space’ completes the release, cutting a slightly deeper and more underground line. Keeping hot on the trail of rough-edged rolling rhythms, another scattered construction of individual instrumental shots create a hypnotic sense of undulation that leads into reggae-tinged sampling and face-bending drops. 

Copasetic’s ‘Cold Steady’ EP is out on 31st March 2022 on Unnamed & Unknown.

The next instalment of our ever-growing Libero catalogue comes from Libero family members Rone White and Alessandro Diruggiero. The duo is building a dominant reputation in the tech-house world; receiving support from the genres biggest players and frequenting dancefloors all over the globe. Their ‘Join The Tribe’ EP is their second Libero release and the latest in a string of high calibre releases, further cementing the reasoning behind their stellar reputation. 

‘Keta Loco’ kicks things off with the raw vibe that we have come to know and love from Rone & Alessandro. Rolling rhythm and tonal percussion keyed in perfectly with melodic intricacies.

‘Keep Going’ piques a little more creativity with different velocities throughout. Layers of percussion are separated from the harder elements in the mix, giving a clear focus on the cadence that claves and castanets bring when implemented properly into a track.

The title track ‘Join The Tribe’ is yet more A1 work from the duo. Reminiscent of that Music On sound championed by Marco Carola; it carries an air of Italo flavour while very much retaining the strict Libero ethos of focussing on the flow-bearing percussive elements in the track.

Tying things up, Manchester local and hot prospect - REME - delivers a driving remix of ‘Join The Tribe’. Filled with signature flavour that has earned him serious kudos from the likes of Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati and many other taste-making names in the game.

Erick Cruz, is a DJ and record producer. Driven by his never satisfied curiosity, this Venezuelan music head fell in love with electronic music the moment he stepped into Club Space in Miami. From there he started developing mixing techniques using house music and all its sub-genres from deep house to minimal techno. In 2021, Erick enrolled in Toolroom Academy where he was able to find his own sound. Lately, he has been producing minimal latin-tech tracks to bring to the dancefloor.
