From the Psychic Liberation vaults comes a pairing of sonic material from artists LXV and Glyn Maier. Having originally been planned for respective 7” releases, the pairing of these modernist technological psychedelia recordings revealed themselves to sit beautifully together. 

Lxv is the most prolific alias of David Sutton, a sound arranger from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also records under the monikers Heaven Copy, Temporal Movement, as well as his full name, David Wesley Sutton. Glyn Maier is a sound artist and field recordist living in the Unorganized Territory of South Oxford, Maine. A longtime fixture of East Coast underground circuits, Maier has performed and recorded under various aliases, most recently as Lack. Maier currently runs nature friendly label Enmossed.

Sutton notes of the A side material “The two recordings which appear on this side were created using pure data and a Roland SP808EX. They come to you from the distant year 2015. At this time I was very interested in exploring irregular modes of rhythm and constructions of motion in a digital audio environment. I sought to emulate the wavering state between tech-infused dysphoria and transcendent euphoria -through creating a pathway to irregular groove excavation in the disjointed wriggles of adverse movements, tangled up, like a tornado blasting through a junkyard and assembling a pc, but not quite.”

On the flip side of the record, ‘Memoria' and 'Gŵyl' were recorded in late summer 2017 following the passing of Maier’s grandmother. “I built them using sounds coaxed from her collection of wooden shakers and metallic windchimes. Further processing and arrangement were done with an Arp 2600 synthesizer and a handful of analog effects units. A final touch was provided by Brood X cicadas that I recorded in her backyard. Predicted to emerge in 2021, a small cohort awakened early and sang through the sweltering evenings my family and I spent sifting through her belongings - a lifetime of materialized memories.

The 12” comes in an edition of 150 hand stamped copies, in yellow disco jacket and poly sleeve.

‘An Afternoon Whine’ is the first release for Ecstatic by claire rousay and mari maurice aka more eaze - it offers a highly personalised conception of ephemeral avant-pop by two of the US experimental scenes most insightful operators; collapsing ambient, electro-acoustic and gauzy guitar shimmers into a shared, lucid dreamworld.

Feeling like a milestone in both artist’s prolific catalogues, the album’s heady drift finds our collaborators recording in the same room for the first time, diffusing a palette of vocals, guitar, field recordings, piano and violin into a singular sort of etheric chamber pop. 

Beautifully frayed at the edges and with a sanguine melodic core, their music evolves and resolves from the nanoscopic through to a panoramic view across its five pieces, with melodic motifs and lowkey vocals that occur with uncannily natural logic and quiet wit. 

The results are Budd-like in their slow blooming elegance, but elusive as anything from the neo-ambient spheres of uon or Perila et al, and osmotically influenced by R&B and cloudrap as much as indie-pop proper.

‘An Afternoon Whine’ is best framed as a warts-n-all snapshot, poetically limning a sort of day in the life of rousay & Eaze, replete with the domestic rustles and ephemeral passages that have made the former’s work so spellbinding, and glinting with the kind of memory-jogging motifs that give body to more eaze’s explorations of  electro-acoustic sketches, identity, and perception. 

It’s hard to think of another duo who’ve smudged the borders so subtly and expressively between the flushing toilet and piano spritz of ‘Great Song’ and the heartfelt autotuned paean of ‘Smaller Pools,’ and with the ability to subliminally unstitch convention and reweave it in their own image, as with the lush tension and imperceptible room transitions of ‘Floor Pt. 3,’ or how ‘Songs For A Tuned Guitar’ reclaims the supernatural from the domestic with such poetic guile.

Heith’s devout interest in the notion of reality started long before he recorded his latest album. The Italian musician, producer and artist probed the spiritual aspects of sound and its cosmogonic potential already in his previous works released on his own Haunter Records label.

Exploring the textures of consciousness through research into the ritual animism, he kept an omnivorous and universalist approach to cultural and sonic influence. This is central to X, wheel, Heith’s debut album and first release on PAN. It’s a deep dive into his creative and spiritual practice, one where art and life are inextricable.

Written and recorded across different studios in Milan, Rome and Florence between March 2019, and January 2020, eleven tracks cycle through a world of stylistic references—from psychedelia, psytrance and freak folk tostoner metal, noise and early electronic music—while remaining firmly a part of a singular vision.

Heith crafts a mesmerising and ritualistic subterranean soundscape, aresonant and eclectic collage of distinct sonic elements: from celestial percussion intertwined with jarring, mechanical oscillations to haunting vocals atop murky dubbed-out beats.
