So here it is! The first song in this new venture! 
'Paris' was written on the 26th of November 2014 at The Dairy Studios in Brixton with an extremely talented writer from Nashville, Jimmy Robbins! 
We introduced ourselves, hit it off instantly and seeing as I had a much awaited trip to Paris coming up in between Christmas & New Year, it seemed the perfect topic to write about that day!

As you can here, the track is extremely minimal, guitar & kick drum/clap. My vocal on it was the 2nd of two, not note perfect and VERY HIGH in some parts!! But I hope you'll agree, what we create on that day was a very pretty little ditty!

Here we are again for Week 2...
I give you 'Shoes'! 

Written with my close friends from across the pond in Los Angeles, Mr Mason Levy aka MDL & Mr Tom Meredith, 'Shoes' is the tale after dread knowing the person you're completely mad about no longer feels the same. 
That desperate moment you tell them to just think for a second and not leave. A last ditch attempt to change their mind.

The back end of this song will eventually build into some mad shit. Each repletion becoming more painful & grand.
Thanks to Tom & Mason for allowing this to go up. Once again, these demo's are an insight into the workings of a song.

'Summer', where do I start. Well first of all, Summer!
15 years old, school holidays, town park, probably getting up to things a 15 year old shouldn't be! 
That's what this song is about. Some of the best days of my life so far. Written and Co-Produced with my good friend Pnut (John Harrison) & Simon Brytt, YEARS AGO, always been one of my favourite tunes.

SUMMER

A couple of years ago I was introduced to a fantastic young writer/producer called Lester Salmins. Lester & I had 2 things in common, we were of similar age & he lived about 20 minutes away from me, which above all meant a decent lie in the morning of the session. 

We worked a few times together but on our first occasion, we wrote 'Checkmate'. 

The tale of a sorry King, who'd pissed off everyone around him but most importantly his Queen & was left with nothing but his crown, which he in turn chucked anyway. 

'But it was a good game wasn't it babe' is the lyric that says it all, it was a bumpy road but didn't we love the heartache, pleasure & pain along the way. 

A shitty vocal due to me probably having hit the sauce too much at the time, but hey, it is what it is. A pretty little ditty. 'Checkmate'.

Ed Drewett, one of the UK’s brightest songwriting talents, will release his new single ‘Undefeated’ on July 15. The track is taken from Ed’s debut album, due for release later this year. 
 
Ed is no stranger to songwriting success, having penned hit singles for The Wanted, Loveable Rogues, and Olly Murs. He is credited as co-writer on Olly’s current single ‘Dear Darlin’’.
 
‘Undefeated’ is anthemic modern pop at its best. The song holds a huge amount of poignancy for Ed, who has had first hand experience of a particularly turbulent time in the music industry, having gone through two major record labels without releasing a second single.
 
“I’m surprised people don’t think I’m the grim reaper of A&R!” he now jokes. “During my time on the labels I saw 8 A&R guys get fired, and, with each firing comes a new regime and the need to build new relationships. It was making me miserable, and I’m not normally like that. I definitely had a time when I thought ‘is it worth it?’. But throughout it all I had people (like Professor Green for example) give me advice and I always believed it would happen, no matter how low I got”.
 
And now, Ed is releasing music himself – “having been messed around by two major labels, I decided that I’d be happier just making music and getting it out there, rather than be part of someone else’s master-plan for me”.
