Netherlands' Niels Broos and London's Hyroglifics have teamed up for the collaborative project Rippps (@rippps), unleashing their debut EP "Hue" on Alpha Pup Records (@alphapup), August 3, 2018. 

Five tracks of futuristic electronic music that blends stylistic synths and dynamic production work, "Hue" is equal parts unique, striking, and propulsive. The grooves are nonstop, and the electricity is boundless, giving the album a distinct vibe that further establishes their legacy in modern music. 

'Pose' comes blazing out of the gate right from the start, with bent and tweaked electronics running all over the map in perfect harmony. Rippps draws styles from anywhere and everywhere - Jazz, Beats, Funk, Electronic Dance and everything in between. Although quirky and off-kilter, the duo clearly has a firm grasp on their instruments and musical knowledge making their forthcoming "Hue" EP more and more enjoyable with each listen.

Recorded and shaped over the last two years, Rippps began when they met through their selection at Red Bull Music Academy Montreal 2016. The artwork on the "Hue EP" was also a result of the time they shared together at RBMA. Julian Mayorga and his wife Marta Orozco Villarrubia completed the artwork (their artist name for reference is: Poetas Menores)

Heart to Hearts @heart-to-heart-recs) 12th record comes to us by way of Berlin with Westcoast Goddess (@westcoast-goddess). Following up his heavily favored "Springtime Forever' released earlier this year on Sweden's tasteful house imprint Omena Records. The Goddess will resonate well with house heads with love for the East coast house sound. Packed with punchy drum beats and full spectrum instrumentation, these tunes are designed to lift ones soul and turn any frown upside down. The title track "Life Review" literally brings out the sun with string sections that relax even the hardest of humans, spreading love without even saying a word. "Strung out Ditty" hits us deep with its tracky vibe and unforgettable bassline, wrapped in progressive string sections. It builds you up from the inside out, taking your mind and feet to new levels. Capping off the record, "Death is A Door' and "I Guess I want a Family" will bring you right back to the streets of New Jersey with that classic deep house feel reminiscent of early Bottom Line releases and Tony Humphries productions.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Manatee Commune (Grant Eadie) has built a sound, vibe and presence in his music that oozes the surroundings he grew up with as a child. Our latest premiere comes from Copenhagen’s Creak Inc. 5 releases deep into the world of jazzed up electronic music - having featured the laid-back house grooves of Terry Tester, break-beat anthems of Kaidi Tetham, to the smoothest rap and r&b from Copenhagen’s own NATKAT - it’s safe to say Creak Inc. have proven themselves a go-to address for all lovers of jazz-tinged electronics.

Next up on the label is newcomer Nejrup’s debut EP. But don’t let the word debut fool you into thinking this EP is anything short of musical mastery. This is the kind of debut EP that feels as though it’s been in the works for half a lifetime, boasting remarkable instrumentation, as well as meticulous production and sound-design. Nejrup’s three original tracks, and a stellar remix by K15 - a master of all things soulful - leave little to be desired. Our favourite off the EP is the A2. Calm Cacophony kicks off as 16th hihats set a steady pace, rhodes harmonies and touching synth melodies pull at your heartstrings. Through the calm emerges a tight groove, and drums and synthesised arpeggios erupt in an emotional climax. The energy ebbs and swells, building up for a final crescendo, then disappearing as quickly as it came, and leaving you dizzy in it’s wake.

For us, Calm Cacophony ticks all the boxes: beautiful harmony, virtuosic musicianship, high emotion and crisp production. Our only critique would be the name, as there’s sure to be little cacophony to be found anywhere that Nejrup could possibly sway! Nejrup bursts onto the scene with an EP that’s sure to turn some heads, and we definitely can’t wait to hear what else he has in store for us. Manda is out April 27th on Creak Inc. Buy it here.

For their fifth release Tiff’s Joints enlist the powers of the enigmatic and wondrously versatile Laroye. The three tracks that make up the release offer a dangerously rhythmic journey into spiritual dance music, placing equal importance on supplying premium fodder for dancers as on communicating a playful and otherworldly musical message, and have already received the seal of approval from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Alexander Nut, Nabihah Iqbal, Osunlade, Pablo Valentino and Volcov.

‘The Trickster’ takes one step closer to the centre of the dancefloor, built around an infectiously squelchy keys part and bolstered by a bassline that could set off car alarms, the track climaxes in a soaring lead melody, exploding into a ridiculous synth solo before reining it all in and managing to save some energy for a gallop to the finish line. Complete with an uplifting choral arrangement, seriously trippy lap-steel guitar(?!) and a mysterious guiding voice - this is one for the spacers!

Here comes the fourth teaser for the 25 years Compost anniversary 10x12” – box-set. And what a stellar one. First of all, Lorenz Rhode “Back” in a Purple Disco Machine remix. The original was a 12” B-side hidden gem, released 2007 on Compost, but it caused a worldwide stir and became a true worldwide underground hit in the break dance scene. Dozens of break dancers, crews and schools used “Back” for their break dance rehearsals. We have cut a nice video of ca. 20 dancers and crews, which we found on YouTube, showing their amazing moves and grooves with “Back” in background. And to top that: Purple Disco Machine lays his funky disco hands onto it! 2018 was the year for Purple Disco Machine with four of the biggest dance tracks, with almost a few hundred million streams, various No 1 charts hits and as a high point: #2 “Beatport Artist Of All Time”. Nuff said.

Liquid Phonk’s “Starwalk” is a wonderful blax-ploited disco-house ride. It’s one of Michael Reinboth’s favorite tracks of the 25 years anniversary 10x12” box set (out of 42 tracks). Another hit maker brings down a round figure: Spiller, do you remember his world hit “Groovejet” from 2000, he gave the Trüby Trio “Make A Move” a kinda 80’s ska-disco skank groove. Very funny uplifting. Enjoy.

For Cliff's second offering off the back of a tasty first, Belgian @RickyRazu joins the clique, after a successful debut record on Houseum Records. 

Ricky's productions, are clearly profoundly influenced by his background in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Boogie, and Disco and have earned him a solid fanbase thus far. Omena travels south of the Mediterranean Sea with antique maps and compass in hand for the release of Parviz's Zerzura EP. This record features four songs of romance and reverie, taking you through a dizzying jazz journey, full of twists and turns; starting with emboldened trumpets, only to end on a handful of quaint piano notes. As dusk settles upon the dunes, the mirage has now vanished, and the forlorn hope turns into a soul-searching journey.

To capture the atmosphere of the piece, Parviz has partnered with artist Rickard Eklund to put together the cover art for the release. Much like Parvis himself, Mr. Eklund was inspired a great deal by the mysticism of the region, which he goes onto explain in our exclusive interview where both delve into the influences behind their collaboration.

As you read through their discussion that touches on everything from Percey Shelley's Ozymandias to the music of Lounge Lizards, Yuseef Lateef and Duke Ellington, make sure to listen to Parivz's forthcoming track taken from the EP titled "Odalisque Au Fauteuil Noir."
