Hello everyone and welcome. Il Modo is back for another slice of midweek madness that we like to call The Progcast, designed for one thing and one thing only! To give you a bump for the rest of the week, courtesy of another exclusive DJ Mix from anywhere on Planet Prog! 

This week however Il Modo stays at home and brings you a very rare set from one of Dublins originals. A DJ & Producer engrained into the very fabric of the Irish rave scene, having been around since the start. Very happy to finally get this mix out to you, its been on the cards a while, is all were sayin! 

il Modo make some noise for Casper! 

Casper has been into the Irish electronic music scene since 1992, as he found himself involved in promoting some of the earliest raves in the country and then going on to DJ himself from just a couple of years later.

His residencies started in 1995 at iconic Dublin clubs, The Shaft and Groucho's, but he also found himself playing at other city centre venues like LOVE at The BlueZone, The Parliament and The Boom Boom Rooms, and in Belfast's Thompsons Garage. Over the years, Casper also played at the legendary Red Box/Chocolate Bar, Ormond Multimedia Centre, Temple Theatre, The Wright Venue, The System Nightclub and The Temple Of Sound, just to name a few!

These coveted domestic slots soon earned Casper his chance to shine away from home, earning him international stints as a resident at Bash, South Beach Miami and guest spots at The Shadow Lounge/Liquid Miami towards the end of the 1990's.

Casper was also one half of Phraktal from 2013 to 2020. Their success saw 7 Beatport top 10’s and the album “Why 1 is One and 2 is Two” saw massive acclaim throughout the industry, supported by the likes of Charlie May, Nick Warren, Roland Klinkenberg, Trancesetters and Danny Tenaglia amongst others. 

Fast forward to today, Casper is a resident at Pitch in Fest, where, every year, John lays down a 6 hour set that covers everything from Ambient, Down Tempo & Electronica, right through to Deep, Organic House and Progressive.

Here is the recording of my opeing set for the 2 day mini festival Live by the Sea.  This took place at a cracking venue right on the beach called The Beach Hut in Lossiemouth, Scotland.  

The weekend was jam packed full of extremely talented local DJs and bands.  So proud to have played my part in organising such a special weekend of music.  Hope you enjoy listening back to my set.  Thanks for listening.

Live by the Sea 5th August 2023

Hello and welcome to the Exclusive Series (with Subcode) Featuring the skills and talents of Dublin's unique trio of Electronic music artists. Each month we highlight each of our DJ's, with a 2 hour set aired every 4th Thursday of the month.

It was the turn of Khankra to take to the decks in July, he provided a special set which even by his standards was absolutely flawless. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did, when first aired a couple of weeks ago. 

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Khankra’s passion for electronic music started at a young age and has continued to evolve with time. Khankra’s roots have always been entwined in hypnotic grooves, rolling basslines and driving melodies.

At 17 he purchased his first set of 1210’s and from there he began forging a name for himself in the Dublin scene, playing at nights across some of the city’s best clubs like The Redbox, The Pod, the Button Factory, Traffic, Mono, The Chocolate Bar.

After somewhat of a hiatus from the scene, in 2014 Khankra had the opportunity to warm up for industry icon, and personal hero, Sasha at The Button Factory.

Following this, Khankra teamed up with the Melodic Residents and handed the headphones over to some other industry legends during this time, including Nick Warren, Sebastien Leger, Los Soruba, The Drifter and Guy J on a number of memorable occasions.

In late 2019, Khankra teamed up with DJ’s Glenn Molloy and Soulfinder to form Fusion Underground. Since then the group have started the Fusion Underground Mix series, which has had some excellent support across the industry and continues to grow.

Khankra has a number of Production projects in play, adding to his releases already on Compatible Records. We should also expect to see Khankra and some top acts playing at Fusion Underground gigs in the near future!
