Half Baked Records is back with their fifth offering, presenting the solo Ep of French dj & producer Robin Ordell. On top of having released on Eklo, Robin is one of the historical residents of Half Baked, an artist present in the family from day one, growing together with the project while bringing his own touch to it, a delicate balance between light and darkness, drive and delicateness.

Robin infuses power to his tracks via a no compromise formula on drums; tight old school rhythms that are then cleverly fused with expert sound design and minimalist aesthetic, showing a lot of maturity in his productions skills. The A1, Five Majors, is a perfect example of this balance, a dramatic club twister that has all the ingredients to rock a dancefloor, while preserving a touch of elegance. The A2, Nobody Loves Bishopgate, has a an eerie underwater feeling, slowly numbing you with his bubbly bass and filtered melodies, but still keeping you afloat with his funky swing.

On the flipside we find the remix of Vera, a “djs’ dj” and renowned producer for her releases on Perlon and Oslo to name a few. Vera strips it down, emphasizing the drugged out atmospheres and delivering an hypnotic laidback re-interpretation that will no doubt be the highlight of many morning sets this summer. The B2, Kosma, is the “brightest” cut of the record where jazzy chords alternate with playful stabs, teasing you throughout the whole the track.

Live recording of one of my two sets at seekers x Faciendo’s weekender this winter. A special moment behind the booth of my favourite dance-(but-not-too-much)-floor, with great friends by my side and many familiar faces from here & abroad or lovely strangers in front of me. A recording can hardly translate the cosy atmosphere and the warm and round sound of this room, but here is a good memory to keep on the cloud! Sorry for the few dusty needles in the first hour.

We are chuffed to have him on our podcast series. Basic Moves founder Walrus joins us on the podcast this week. Active as both a DJ and producer for well over a decade, Michiel's also been putting on some of Brussel’s finest parties in recent years, under both his label's banner and a new series called Beautiful Freaks, which he runs alongside Pinguin Society Collective and many other friends.

Having hosted us back in June when we rolled into Hanoi with Brasi, we needed to know more about this meticulous selector. Established himself as resident DJ at the cities Savage club, Zwi is the driving force at one of regions finest beat emporiums and has warmed up for a wide spectrum of artists that have recently included Mr. Ho, Loa Szala, nd_baumecker, Phase Fatale, Vithz, and Lamalice. As well as his continued work with Savage, Zwi also runs his own project METRØ which celebrated turning the ripe old age of six back in May. 

This diverse musical palette has led the Hanoi based Zwi to become a go to artist in the region and has massively informed his all encompassing sound. This is perfectly exhibited on his InSession for us where he moves from moody broken after hour beats through to deeper shades of house, and then through to more upfront cuts but always keeping that groove and funk strong throughout. Zwi proves that even in the far reaches of the underground there are fantastic artists and undiscovered musical gems to be found.
