We're very excited to bring you the second instalment of The Sunrise Mixtapes, and our first guest-mix: None other than Mr Phil Mison! 

A chance meeting with José Padilla at London's Milk Bar lead to a two-season DJ residency at the iconic Café Del Mar in Ibiza in the mid nineties. Phil continues to produce and tour the world. A true champion of the Balearic scene, we were thrilled that he said Yes when we reached out to ask if he’d like to contribute to the series, especially seeing as the mix he’s submitted is a very special live recording of a set he did at the Café Del Mar back in August 1994. It’s a simply gorgeous selection of white-Isle classics and oddities, including ‘Mediterranean Dream’ by Shahin & Sepehr, ‘Voodoo Jammin’ by Dancing Fantasy and ‘Yawn Yawn Yawn’ by Sth Notional, just to mention a handful as there are so many great records in this mix - Seminal music from the golden age of chill.

David Paul Mancuso (October 20, 1944 – November 14, 2016) was an American disc jockey who created the popular "by invitation only" parties in New York City, which later became known as "The Loft". The first party, called "Love Saves The Day", was in 1970.

Mancuso pioneered the private party, as distinct from the more commercial nightclub business model. In the early 1970s, Mancuso won a long administrative trial when the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs found that he was not selling food or beverages to the public and therefore did not need a New York City cabaret license.

Mancuso's success at keeping his parties "underground" and legal inspired others, and many famous private discothèques of the 1970s and 1980s were modeled after The Loft, including the Paradise Garage, The Gallery, 12 West, The Flamingo and later The Saint. Mancuso also helped start the record pool system for facilitating the distribution of promotional records to the qualified disc jockey.

"Raised in Southern Ontario somewhere between Detroit and Montreal, Eddie C began his experiments in music some time in the late 80s. Inspired first by Hip Hop and the burgeoning Acid House scene, he began making tape edits of late night radio and shortly thereafter began visiting record shops and warehouse parties to discover the music first hand.  Record digging, DJing and production has since been a way of life for the man, followed closely by an opposing passion for skiing which lead him to his 10 year sabbatical in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. With plenty of time over the past decade for reflection and research in his log cabin studio, C has recently re-located and reconnected with the electronic music community in Berlin.  His raw yet sophisticated approach to production has yielded countless releases and remixes since just 2009 and his now renowned eclectic and passion-fueled DJ sets have garnered a cult following worldwide."
