BIO:
Ferdinando Apicella, known as Singular Anomalies, is an artist from Naples. His first encounter with Techno music came through a cassette by Derrick May, an experience that sparked a deep and immediate passion for Detroit Techno. From that moment on, he began a journey of sonic exploration, diving into his first vinyl records and immersing himself in the catalogues of iconic labels such as Metroplex, Underground Resistance, Transmat, Axis, and M-Plant, while following the artistic evolution of key figures like Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Kenny Larkin, and Mike Banks.

After a period dedicated to studying Jazz an experience that further enriched his musical background. Singular Anomalies returned to his Techno roots, determined to seriously pursue electronic music production. This path led him to formal training, culminating in a diploma as a Sound Engineer and Sound Designer.

Today, Singular Anomalies blends historical influences with contemporary research, crafting a personal sonic language shaped by years of study, experimentation, and dedication to Techno culture.

Every so often a plum opportunity presents itself. The best ones are timeslips - for a few hours things can be turned on their heads and anything is possible: Ecstatic dancing at an immersive deep listening party? Sure. No mixing? Yup. We’ll just play wonky emotional bangers about joy? 100%!

On Saturday 12th October that’s pretty much exactly what happened at The Baths in Hackney Wick, London. A few hundred of us joined together to dance for hours on end, but the communal release, the expression of love and joy ended up being so much more than that. This recording captures something of the spirit of that moment. We hope you can feel it as much as we did.

This is the 2nd official mixtape I ever recorded. I recently received a DM from a guy who says he had this tape back in the day and that it changed his life. He wanted to know if I still had a copy anywhere. I do, in fact I have an entire IKEA shopping bag full of cassettes of my college radio shows, mixes, late-night LA radio recordings, artist interviews and even answering machine messages going back to my teens. I will be archiving online them all at some point.
