Kaluki Music head Pirate Copy makes a long-awaited debut on Hot Creations this November with the three-track You Need It. Collaborating with rising vocalist Hattie Snooks, the release includes two remixes courtesy of US legend Harry Romero and Spanish mainstay Miane. 

“It’s a huge honour for me to make my debut on Hot Creations, a label I have admired since the very beginning. This track started as a studio jam during a dark winter in lockdown. I sent Hattie the dub, she wrote and sang the perfect vocal, then I sent JJ a personal message. He came straight back to say he was feeling it... and the rest is history!" - Pirate Copy.

The title track takes the form of a driving, 4x4 house cut, packed full of punchy percussion and resonant kick-hat pairings. Built for the dancefloor, Hattie Snooks’ enigmatic vocals whisper beneath a minimal-laced bassline, before Harry Romero’s remix arrives. The US stalwart serves up another no-nonsense offering, as a hard-edged bassline melds with flecks of acid throughout. Rounding off the release is Miane, whose tribal-leaning offering is sure to light up many a nightclub this year. 

Manchester’s Pirate Copy is a leading artist in today’s electronic music sphere. His discography boasts releases on some of the scene’s most revered imprints, including Sola, Relief, Elrow and Moon Harbour to name a few, whilst his own label, Kaluki, has become a bastion for contemporary house since its inception fifteen years ago. 

Harry Romero is a well-established figure on the worldwide music circuit, with recent productions landing on Crosstown Rebels, DIRTYBIRD and many more. Ibiza’s Miane is fast becoming a talked about talent in the industry, thanks to several appearances on major labels including Black Book, Repopulate Mars and Moon Harbour.

Kai Rodriguez debuts on Hottrax with two punchy cuts across his ‘Undaground’ EP. 

An imprint known for releasing quality material from established artists including East End Dubs and Christian Burkhardt, through to surging talents such as SOSA, Mason Collective and Wheats, Jamie Jones’ Hottrax continues to uncover new music from all corners of the house scene. Continuing their push for discovering fresh talent, December welcomes the addition of a new name as Northampton-based DJ/producer Kai Rodriguez prepares his biggest release to date with two rhythmic grooves across his ‘Undaground’ EP. 

Leading with rattling percussion, robust kicks and enticing vocal chants, ‘Undaground’ reveals an energetic opening production, while ‘POWR’ welcomes an up-front, no-nonsense production via snaking hats, distorted beats and pulsating basslines.

Italian duo Len Vitz and Charlie Iapicone debut on Hot Creations with ‘Playhouse’, backed by a remix from  Cologne favourite Kolter.  

Featuring as two young talents rising from the Italian house scene, Len Vitz and Charlie Iapicone are gearing up  for their biggest release to date following a series of EPs across recent years. Joining forces for the first time to  rework Ann Peebles’ 1972 soul hit ‘I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down’, they debut on Hot Creations with their  collaboration ‘Playhouse’ - backed by a stellar remix from Cologne-based DJ/producer and label boss, Kolter. 

“The EP was born by chance, an experiment which turned out successful. It’s a mixture of sounds and  recordings accompanied by a taste of vintage soul music.” - Len Vitz.  

Harnessing the original production’s resonant vocals and funk-fuelled riffs, ‘Playhouse’ brings a 70’s classic to  modern dancefloors as slick drums and slinking bass grooves reveal a track made for memorable moments. On  the flip, Kolter’s remix brings an additional slice of vigour and energy as he utilises signature chords and skippy  percussion to shape up proceedings.

An artist constantly in the record boxes of the scene’s biggest names and a core figure amongst the ‘new generation’ pushing the UK house and minimal scene forward, yet a DJ/producer with an ever-growing global profile, the demand for Rossi. and his seemingly never-ending list of unreleased productions go hand in hand. Continually levelling up, last summer saw him showcasing his wider creative vision as an artist even further as he unveiled a project a long time in the works, his own label HOMEGROWN., with the first ‘Welcome’ EP racking up love from Enzo Siragusa, Cristi Cons, Varhat, Djebali, and Chris Stussy to name just a few. Returning after a brief hiatus, with an impressive schedule set to drop across the year ahead, he returns this March to offer up the sophomore EP on the label with four heavily-requested productions across ‘I’ve Been Waiting’.

The snappy and provocative ‘Honey I’m...’ is an example of the UK talent as his best, utilising playful, hooky female vocal snippets above snaking grooves and skippy drums to open proceedings, while A2 ‘Fly’ utilises a squelchy bassline and sharp drums to keep the energy levels high. On the flip, the rugged and no-nonsense ‘Knock Knock’ opens the B-side with authority as driving low-ends take hold before journeying into a more tonal production guided by blooming synths, with the resonant and cosmic tones of ‘Wildcard’ stripping things back to close on a serene tip. 

The package is also the first EP on the label released in a physical format, with the records pressed using ECO-Mix - reusing old and/or leftover wax as a more sustainable way of pressing records while offering a unique colour and look across each record for owners.

Eddy’s musical journey began in the town of Palermo in Sicily, Italy, where his love of rhythm and beats saw him play drums in bands since the tender age of twelve. He later graduated to Palermo’s European School of Jazz where he took his talent to the next level by studying piano, guitar and percussion. 

Eddy began producing in 2010, taking inspiration from his classical training and influence from his love for the old school, particularly 90’s hip hop in the form of Cypress Hill, Tribe Called Quest and Ice Cube, to create his own unique form of tech house and techno.
