Visionquest have made a big impact in their first two releases on the imprint from Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves. Now they fill up the dancefloor with light on ‘Dark Song’ EP from the compelling Tale Of Us.

Engulfing the listener in a luscious wall of sound from the onset of ‘Dark song’, Tale Of Us take an abstract and harmonious approach to their music. Understated beats and yearning vocals stretch the imagination to new heights in a new strain of house music engaging the senses through warm tapestries of sound.

Using similar low-end whispered sounds that resonate in a deep place, ‘Circle Of Love’ is a magnetic slice of dancefloor music. Its skipping beats and rippling bass enthralls but it’s the sensual vocal that gives ‘Circle Of Life’ a special edge and adds an element of mystery. ‘Valiant’ completes the package with an epic dose of bubbling beats and pads, inventing a masterpiece hybrid of techno and deep house leaving you spellbound.

Tale of Us are Berlin-based DJ and production partnership Karm and Matteo who are currently re-writing the rulebook for deeply moving, emotional electronic music. Together they share a sonic vision that pulls together elements of house and techno with influences from pop, nu-disco and even rock music. While all of their productions are instantly recognisable as Tale Of Us, these range from straight-up dance floor jams to low-slung ambient tracks and more abstract compositions. While both originally hail from North America, Karm was born in Toronto and Matteo in New York, they moved to Italy as children, which is where they met and formed the close working bond that they now share.

At present they are based in Berlin, an inspirational frontier, which has given them numerous opportunities to build relationships with fellow musicians who share their unique musical outlook and resulted in this special Visionquest release. Prior to this, Tale Of Us tracks could be found on labels such as Barraca Music, Cocoon' and Life & Death (the Tale Of Us remix of Thugfucker ‘Disco Gnome’ on Life and Death was hailed by Mixmag as one best records of 2010) and have put out various remix collaborations with fellow Visionquest label mates Shaun Reeves & Ryan Crosson. Underground mainstay Guy Gerber is back on his own Rumors label with new EP Leave It On. Across three tracks he showcases his famously emotive and melodic house sounds. 

Gerber has been a core part of the underground for years, headlining the world's most revered clubs and festivals, collaborating with P. Diddy, bringing all new party concepts to Ibiza, and serving up serene and synth heavy soundscapes that move people physically and emotionally on labels like Cocoon, Italians Do It Better and Rumors. 

This one kicks off with the lush deep house elegance of 'Leave It On' with its languid bass and live sounding drums. Swirling pads and atmospheric vocals bring a romantic feel to this late night jam. 'Leave Me' then picks up the pace with more percussive but still smooth grooves, this time doused in sweeping chords that bring sunshine and soul. 'Jupiter Blues' closes out with a cosmic exploration, the gently tinkling keys shining like stars as warm, rubbery drums carry you onwards and upwards. 

This is another classy EP from Guy Gerber.
