"Sperms To Worms" was a 12 hour long event that happened in a warehouse in Pittsburgh in spring 2013 in which 12 teams of artists re-created experiences from birth to death. 

i was asked to contribute a DJ mix for the 11th hour themed on the age block of 65-74. i decided to craft a mix of fun party tunes from the 1950s and 1960s that i thought this specific art-punk crowd would enjoy. since i was already booked elsewhere on the night of the event, i made the mix in advance using all vinyl from my collection and asked my pal Nick Painter aka Trogpite to play the mix for me at the scheduled time and process it in realtime adding his own live electronic sounds. 

this upload is my original mix without Trogpite's additions.

DJ Edgar Um '50s/'60s set for "Sperms To Worms" event

zzGbfNRxvDu9y (an approximation of the actual name which was a chance-determined logo of letters and punctuation) was a duo project (described as a "responsible noise thinktank" in the accompanying booklet) of Edgar Um Bucholtz and fellow Telecorps member Ray-C-Ray (also of Propane Beef Dog, House of Duh Records, Salt Chunk Mary, Infinite Slab of Electric, et. al.) This project's sole release was a four cassette package of "remixes" of Bing Crosby's Hawaiian Christmas classic, "Mele Kalikimaka." Each side of the four cassettes contained a different 15 minute "remix." Some of the remixes were collaborations between Edgar Um Bucholtz and Ray-C-Ray. Some were solo. This collaborative remix was on cassette 2, side B. The cassette package was released on House of Duh Records for Christmas 1994 as DUH94. It was available in three different editions. The most deluxe edition came attached to a board on which a small xmas tree with a blinking red LED light.

this is a 2-track mixdown of a 4-track tape composition by Edgar Um Bucholtz from 1993. it is named "Who Shit" because the 4-trak master was recorded over a found cassette of The Who. 

it was mixed down to stereo by Edgar Um Bucholtz from a Tascam 4-track in Bob Kollar's house on Chesterfield Street in Oakland on August 13, 1993. 

it was digitized and converted to mp3 on April 23, 2009.

there are many mixdowns of this composition. i'm not sure which--if any--are the best.

Edgar Um Bucholtz is a DJ, multi-media artist, event producer and improvising musician living in Pittsburgh, PA.

He is the co-founder and co-resident (with DJ Dad Time!) of Pgh Bro Club, a monthly trash pop, anything goes, changing-theme dance party at the Brillobox in Pittsburgh.

Since its inception in 2010, he has served as a general advisor and music curator for the internationally-acclaimed annual VIA Music & New Media Festival in Pittsburgh.

He was a full-time music and event curator and resident DJ for The Andy Warhol Museum from 1999-2004. He has served as an events consultant for the last four Carnegie Internationals (1999-2000, 2004-2005, 2008, 2013-2014) at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh.

He started collecting vinyl records and playing records at parties while in high school in rural southwestern Ohio. While an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, he was a DJ on WRCT FM (and for a few years after.) He credits WRCT's record library and many of his fellow WRCT DJ comrades with giving him as much or more important information as his professors at CMU. In addition to DJing at WRCT, he produced a long-running weekly live experimental improvised radio show called "Radio For The People" in collaboration with fellow CMU technology-focused art students as well as with bands and noise musicians from Pittsburgh. He also produced a weekly critical and cultural theory radio show called "Inside The Beast: Theory In Transmission" in collaboration with professor Camilla Griggers and graduate students in the CMU English Department.

Edgar Um Bucholtz makes sounds in Fuck Telecorps, a long-running electro-acoustic improvised experimental sound/performance project, and in an occasional power-electronics noise project called Cock Scene Investigator.
