Presenting their first release of the year, Belgium’s EDGE welcomes Dowden to the label for his debut EP. Praised for his DJ and production skills in equal measure, Canadian artist Dowden presents a deep, yet charging energy, full of atmosphere and colour, ranging from gritty progressive nuance, to enchanting deep house hymns, all with a subtle tone of darkness and mystery. Long regarded as one of Canada’s finest electronic music exports, the Toronto resident has taken his far-reaching sound to trendsetting imprints such as Clubsonica, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Meanwhile and John OO Fleming’s Joof Recordings, while earning continued support from genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo. In a year that has seen the Canadian artist operate at a creative peak, Dowden now adds EDGE to his resume with a much anticipated three-track showcase entitled ‘Creating Constellations’. 

EP opener and title selection ‘Creating Constellations’ is an apt barometer of where Dowden’s headspace is at, as he lets haunting overlays descend over warm voluptuous grooves, rolling rhythms and layers of flickering percussion. A sweeping sonic experience throughout, the Canadian’s exacting design and colourful creative vision is evidenced by a first act of meandering synth swagger and balmy harmonics, the latter of which provides a smooth bridge into the main break. Melting down slowly across the interlude, indistinct vocal fragments and hopeful pads emerge from a warm atmospheric glow, eventually reaching a gentle apex as bleepy chord stabs and temperate soundscapes provide a haunting finale. 

Dowden's capacity for storytelling resonates across the second selection 'Capricorn'. Shot in high-definition and full of detail and idiosyncrasies, it's a cerebral voyage where the Canadian flexes his freethinking muscles and lands comfortably in-between soundscape science and vanguard design. The inevitable zenith of this consciousness expanding excursion mounts with clustered motifs and hopeful melodies converging, achieving a warm inviting timbre over a bed of pulsating beats and fascinating percussion.

The collection’s closer ‘Agora’ finds Dowden achieving an understated yet confident club energy. Smooth rebounding rhythms and wavy basslines set the course for panoramic synth textures and calming atmospheres to work their magic. A prophetic shade is revealed across the main break, as drone-like textures and celestial sonics eventually give way to a tastefully restrained drop and groove-centric finale. 

As Dowden continues to navigate a landmark year, his EDGE debut ‘Creating Constellations’ is sure to unite progressive music fans with his undeniable blend of talent and technique.

We welcome rising talent Matias Mingorance aka Mattim to the onedotsixtwo label family, with his release titled Flickering Suns. 

Hailing from Argentina, Mattim has had releases on a string of excellent labels that include Deepwibe Underground, Massive Harmony Records and Droid 9 to name a few. Whilst only young Matias has created a lovely matured sound and groove that create special dancefloor moments in a relatively short space of time. A producer whose development we will continue to follow with great interest. 

The EP featured the title track Flickering Suns which is accompanied by Rosa, both of which are gorgeous journey's of sound. 

On remix duties Alan Cerra has crafted a wonderful version of Rosa, utilising the lead of the original. His remix has been receiving great responses globally when played.

Clubsonica Records opens the fall season by welcoming Mario Eighta to the label for his debut EP. Since emerging in 2019 Mexican artist Mario Eighta has forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of melody and rhythm, drawing the lines between global dance cultures without adhering to any fixed formula. As a favourite of electronic music tastemakers Agents Of Time, Armen Miran, Fideles and more, the Playa del Carmen resident has compiled an impressive discography across a four-year creative swell, landing releases on top tier imprints such as Beatfreak, Freegrant Music and Tale & Tone. Now, adding Clubsonica to his resume, Mario debuts on the label with 'Otus | Berhert', alongside remixes from John Cosani and Bemannte & Bruder.

The lone interpretation of 'Otus' is provided by John Cosani who makes his label debut. With a career that spans well over a decade Argentinean producer John Cosani has established himself as one of the progressive genre's veteran artists. On the strength of early tracks John earned the praise of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, in turn landing standout projects via Mango Alley, Or Two Strangers, Tale & Tone and more. 2023 has seen John with a consistent stream of superlative remixes, most notably a return to Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music with 'Vulgare', a label where he has now holds nine discography credits. Looking to further diversify his resume, John now makes his Clubsonica debut with a stellar take on 'Otus'. Smooth and groovy across the first movement, John continues his stylized ways with buoyant grooves, operatic voices and retro chord stabs creating an eventful path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in a thought provoking space, John's quirky melodies rise out of calming atmospheres as the interlude evolves, adding perfectly to its concise yet anticipatory nature, before eventually breaking off into a percussive drop and shapeshifting conclusion.

We have enlisted the superpower talents of 2 young producers who we absolutely love here at onedotsixtwo HQ, Ric Niels & Dowden, who are both firmly seeded in the realm of Progressive House through their consistent vision and delivery of amazing music. It is a true honour to have them on the label for this release.

Title original EP's title track Sapphire has been superbly crafted by Ric Niels, with Dowden on Fools Gold. Both remixes encapsulate their amazing sounds and we are excited to sharing them with you.
