Were excited to finally announce the return of our 'Genesis VA' series!

After the massive success of volumes 1 and 2, we have delved deep into the Drum & Bass scene to present you with 20 artists new to the imprint. The sheer calibre within each track emphasises the meaning and ethos of Yamatai, to release the best quality music possible while working with some of the most compelling and talented artists around.

20 artists all who have made a massive mark on the scene, releasing on prestigious labels such as Overview, Transparent Audio, Hospital Records, Dispatch Recordings, Onyx Recordings, Sofa Sound, ThirtyOne, Delta9, RAM Records and Symmetry Recordings. This VA is defiantly not one to be missed!

An International Collaboration that Transcends Borders

Renowned Ukrainian music producers Amorius and Sansi Slava are ready to conquer the global music scene with their latest release, the captivating track 'U Walked Away'. Both artists, who currently reside in forums in their home country, have combined their creative skills to create a sonic masterpiece that promises to move listeners.

'U Walked Away': A Story of Resilience and Passion

The track 'U Walked Away' is an immersive narrative, written and performed by Sansi Slava. The melody, beats and bass lines are majestic and very cohesive, providing a unique sound experience. Sansi Slava's voice conveys emotion and depth, while Amorius' production adds layers of texture and energy to the song.

Amorius and Sansi Slava share a special connection with music, and this collaboration transcends geographical boundaries. Both artists left their homeland in search of new perspectives and opportunities in the world of music. Their journey is reflected in the very essence of 'U Walked Away', which talks about overcoming, love and resilience.

edgeoco produces raw and upfront original audio, mainly improvised and recorded live in one take.

A keyboard player since a young age, Ed started collaborating in various local bands and as a co-producer on white-label dance tracks (She’s 2 Tuff records) during the early 90’s where he grew up on the south coast of England U.K. and studied Popular Music and Recording at Chichester College of Technology.

Moving to London in 1995, this continued whilst Ed completed a degree in Music Technology at the Rose Bruford College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1998. 

The developing drum & bass sound coming through London’s club scene and pirate radio at the time was a big influence and fuelled a string of DJ sets, label startups, collectives and creative projects drawing influences from d&b, acid jazz, breakbeat, techno, house and UK garage.

Ed gained work experience as a recording studio assistant for production duo DJ Dom T (Bjork, Massive Attack) and Aidan Love (Eurythmics, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado) on remix and production projects, including Dom T remixes for singles It’s No Good by Depeche Mode, Fizzy In My Mouth/Your Mouth by Howie B, Alarm Call by Bjork, Electric Barbarella by Duran Duran, Paris fashion show mixes for Givenchy and Alexander McQueen and the production of album Learning Curve by DJ Rap (Charissa Saverio) recorded at London’s prestigious Strongroom Studio One. 

As an independent recording engineer, sound designer and musical programmer Ed worked on a series of releases for DJ Rap’s own record labels Propa Talent and Low Key recordings as well as remixes for other artists and Rap’s own tracks Live It For Today and Good To Be Alive, which enjoyed worldwide distribution and appeared on the motion picture soundtracks of movies Go and Rogue Trader (Sony Pictures).

Ed engineered recordings for UK national radio broadcaster BBC Radio One on a 2-part documentary (produced by West End Productions) about the history of drum & bass hosted by Roni Size, featuring DJ Rap interviews and in the mix. 

Ed also created an exclusive sample library on behalf of Rap for an indie music game developer.

Ed has worked on custom music for brands such as Fanta and Carphone Warehouse collaborating with composer Phil Nicholl (Katrina & The Waves) at Jungle Studios, central London.

His solo work combines an eclectic range of influences including electro, drum & bass, funk, jazz, cinematic textures, piano and found sounds.
