Keith had a gentle guitar phrase and  a few words that he was playing with and shuffled it over to me for a listen to see what I made of it. The result is the song below. The conflict is in the spirituality represented by the sparks on a fire ascending, and the observation that the embers twinkle, fade and fall, silent. What is it all about if the prayers, meditations and positive thoughts just fall back to earth like the sparks? The beliefs we embrace must hit the road of reality. If they measure up to good - wonderful! But if not? The supreme irony for me is watching kids being taught to hate in a religious school class.  I was going to use the coordinating conjunction BUT to set up the point of contrast (But you can't..."). Instead, Keith preferred the AND ("And you can't...") as, in addition to all that one CAN believe, you must be aware that other things follow too. Can And Cannot. So simple. Or is it?

A requiem for my sister Lisa, and 4th movement of a work I have planned to complete as I have time and inspiration for each part of my outline.

The title comes from my daughter, who heard me as I was playing with the initial melodic idea, and said it sounds like a mourning bird.

This piece is best heard through headphones or quality stereo speakers to hear all the details.

It can be noted that many people become extra kind and friendly during Christmas time, even if not everyone celebrates Christmas. Perhaps a ceasefire can be implemented in the Middle East - It has been talked about! Now, one can only hope that Mr. President Putin's heart will be transformed from stone to gold!

J'ai eu la chance de rencontrer TAF qui m'a chanté des chants Sénégalais "a capella" et j'ai de suite été bluffé par la puissance de sa voix. J'avais composé une musique qui me semblait de sonorité Africaine je lui ai donc proposé et nous l'avons joué tous ensemble en improvisant dessus, c'est un ancien enregistrement d'une quinzaine d'années.
