I first met Tehotu while doing an appearance on his Pattern web show in Berlin. What struck me the most, apart from his talent for music, is his pure soul and almost child-like enjoyment he has for the techno scene. You could see that he has something to prove though, a chip on his shoulder maybe, but the way he presents himself is almost like he knows things will happen in a certain fashion and on his terms. He has a vision and he will get there. And I'm more than willing to play even a small part in his quest.

The five tracks Tehotu delivered for Secession range from more deeper and even soulful vibes cut through with almost razor sharp synth hooks to more groovier and faster paced hypnotic altercations he cleverly lays down in his arrangements.

'Cynical Romance (Main Mix)' kicks off with a shimmer of hope in the darkness: a vocal stab saying "you and I" are surrounded with dark and rhythmic EBM energy. As the love story progress, a hopeful 90s inspired trance acid line fills the void with an increasingly rhythmic velocity that culminates into a euphoric peak. Endorphins rush into the newfound love! The post-peak breakdown provides an unbalance or uncertainty - a moment of contemplation - but in the end, we find ourselves in harmony as all the elements in the track are in balance. Emotional and powerful escapism.

BCCO Premiere: BRUT - 2003 [OHNED002]

Italo/Iranian producer Sciahri arrives on Monument with a four-tracker that is best experienced with the whole body on a dark dancefloor. While opening up with a spacious roller, the EP traverses different paces bound together by an undercurrent of bleak, but driving grooves, constantly spiraling further into the depths of the dancefloor. Simultaneously, the distorted and twisted textures of Sciahri’s clear-cut production style makes this a record of introspection, sending us off with a vibrating half-time finale on the B-side.

Over the years, Ashley Burchett's work as Ø [Phase] has become a benchmark for modern Techno production and the British producer has long since been a mainstay of the genre.

The Versions series pays homage to Burchett's illustrious discography, reissuing new mixes of classic material - some of which has already featured on Token.

On this third edition, Burchett turns in new, peak time interpretations of tracks Espresso, Obscura & The Crossover - alongside a stunning remix from fellow UK Techno auteur Steve Bicknell, who reworks Token classic Xylo 3.
