OHM Series continues to round up some of the best and the brightest within the dub techno scene.
Side A begins with blissful and atmospheric journey by Alessandro Crimi, a Switzerland-based producer who has released on various labels and runs the vinyl-only Waehlscheibe. It‘s a diaphanous ambient dub techno approach textured together with tactical precision. Next we move from the softer side of techno to a more banging one with the French producer Benales. With the assistance of 909‘s and dark dub chord, it‘s impossible not to be intrigued.
The flipside starts with a hot prospect: a debut solo release by a Canadian producer named Lakefkt. It‘s dub-driven and thumping at the same time – a delicate, perfect blend. The legendary Outlaw label owner Matthew Oh wraps up the release with an ethereal dub techno voyage. Dubby chords, graceful pads and nifty drums make this one into something special.
OHM Series is the brainchild of the establised Copenhagen-based techno artist OHM (Bjarnar Jónsson) and was founded in 2021.

Homage’s Ryan Clover lands on ARTS with ‘Disrespectful’ this November, backed with a remix from Jerome Hill.

Following his recent debut EP on Justin Jay’s Fantastic Voyage imprint, Buffalo-bred, Brooklyn-based Homage label co-founder Ryan Clover readies his second EP, ‘Disrespectful’. Dropping on Emmanuel’s ARTS label this November, the mammoth release features a remix from Super Rhythm Trax and Don’t honcho Jerome Hill alongside three original cuts.

Despite being only his second release, Clover’s music has received support from a host of electronic music’s most renowned names, including the likes of TSHA, The Blessed Madonna, Denis Sulta, KETTAMA, Justin Cudmore, and more. Title track ‘Disrespectful’ leads with a no-holds-barred barrage of breakbeats, heaving kicks, and ecstatic vocal chops custom-built for big, booming warehouse soundsystems. Keeping the energy high is ‘Proper Club Attire’, with floating synths drifting over hard-hitting and propulsive drums to close out the A-side.

On the flip, ‘Stay By My Side’ heads to more leftfield territories, with expertly-sliced breaks, trippy sound palettes and intense vocals forming a tripped-out late-night banger. Rounding out the release is Jerome Hill’s remix of the B1, bringing his trademark club-ready fare to proceedings for a fine addition to a stand out EP. Showing no signs of slowing down with his second breakneck release within months of the first, the Brooklyn-based DJ/producer looks set to take the scene by storm.

‘Rise And Shine’, the first full Ostgut Ton solo release by Substance (aka @Peter-Kuschnereit), sees him fusing his deep, industrial aesthetic with the resonant bass-heavy leanings of his alter ego DJ Pete, as evidenced on the title track’s off-kilter metallic riddims and multiple, interlaced SH-101 and Prophet 5 melodies. From there, potential set-closer “Countdown” blasts off with relentlessly rattling, scraping breaks, hissing German vox and big chords. The compact explorations of “Bird Cave” and “Distance” offer a more atmospheric take on bass and rhythm, while EP closer “Cruising” re-explores the uncanny, Berlin deep techno cosmos Kuschnereit has helped define, this time in denser form.
