Purism

A little more than 2 years ago, labelhead honchos Paul & Dave released their “Nobody is Anywhere EP” on their own imprint Dynamic Reflection. It was a statement about the status quo in the techno scene back then, where many artists didn’t know which way to go. Ironically enough, the contrary is very true as we speak.  

 The “Anybody is Nowhere EP” responds to their previous work and reflects the uncomfortable time we are currently living in, driven by uncertainty. Even though these are not the happiest thoughts, the track titles show that there is hope left. “Emergence” is a very seductive but psychedelic trip towards “Discharge”, which feels like Abstract Division discharges themselves completely. The last track, “Polarise” points out the current divided society, which sets some doubtful thoughts about the future.  

Scandinavian rebel and Northern Electronics patron Anthony Linell provides his interpretation of the track “Emergence” and delivers a distinctive remix as only he can.

Label honcho Hd Substance returns home after his last EP from Frebruary 2020, just before the world went nuts. During these long uncertain years he has been busy in the studio with his series Beats & Pieces, born on this very label and now spreaded on labels worldwide. 
This long EP includes several of his rhythm and synth exercises as well as an excerpt of his breakbeat series labeled LRG.

Six cuts of synthetic and repetitive techno aimed for the properly educated dancefloors out there plus a downtempo extra. Sometimes liquid and dubby, sometimes sci-fi but always with Hd’s trademark sound.

We are glad to have modular spanish maestro Ribé on Pole Group with this album. Along ten tracks he explores the scientific side of techno sound, extracting the best from his massive patch panel. Las Noches is the first cut, starting with relaxed drums and texturized bleeps running linearly and hypnotically only adding some hi hats and enforcing the sub frequencies in a subtle manner. Grandes Valles follows, alien sequences running over treated textures spiced with precise drum work. Again a few elements wisely administered for premium mental action. Anomalía goes heavier on the low spectrum, with a distorted kick setting the pace. Micro drones and atmospheres get along the groove in a long dark tunnel experience. Melancolía is crispy and percussive, with a broken rhythm marching on and the synth sequence growing and evolving intelligently. Diverso flies directly to hyper space with micro bleeps running over distorted elements. Almost kickless. Ellipsis provides the drum solo in this collection with several modules triggering funky synthetic grooves. A pure tool. Súcubo is a floaty and melancholic ambiente exercise until heavy drums hit and create an industrial ballad. Eje is mechanical and rugged, linear and obsessive. The sound of a sweaty warehouse. Diagnóstico will test the subwoofers of the best clubs to the extreme. Bass is the main component in this minimalistic experiment in sound dynamics. Panacea closes the album with proper techno weaponry, a kick and synth dueto, with just that elements. Always a pleasure to have proper talents onboard.
