Peter, a friend of mine's just committed suicide.  He was a great friend of mine, and it's... I've come back, and I heard that, and it's shocked me a bit; and I wanna tell you because, um, not that you know him — that's not the point.  And he planned it out; he had a... he left his boyfriend... I mean, um, he left notes... and things. But he... he threw himself off a cliff, Peter, and... I just wondered what you think that feeling is like.

What happens, what goes through your head, between throwing yourself off, and actually dying? I wondered what you thought of it. Perhaps you could call me and tell me because it would help me, because I have a terrible fear of heights, and for me, just the idea of falling, so far, and being alive... And I just wondered if things go through your head — you know, people that you love, and that, or things that you feel that you should've done — flash before you, but you can't do anything about it. I just wondered what you thought.

You're probably the only person that I can call right now. And... I'd like to see you, because I think, in a funny way we're doing that... we're just... don't really connect.

Hot summer rain hits the cracked pavement in uneven rhythms. A neon sign flickers above a café that never seems to close, its warm white light reflected in the wet ground like a fever dream. The air smells of summer and the world hums with an easy tone, as if the city itself is holding its breath. A light flooded film noir-ish scene, that needs a soundtrack like „POOL JAMS“, the new album of INIT, the Berlin based duo, that already caused quite a stir with their albums for Hivern Discs and Optimo Music. This time, they bring their latest creations out on R.i.O. - a label, with whom they are deeply associated. Their fourth longplayer is a playful one. One that brings trip hopping feelings. That has r’n’b grace, without catering regular trademarks of the genre. Dub, trance, drone, is all there too. Yet, nothing is present in pure definition. Rather suggested, interwoven, or newly twisted in a songwriting style, that haunts and
seduces. On top the voice of Nadia D'Alò dances, steps and hums tempting to the grooves she created with her partner in crime Benedikt Frey. Together they fashioned a record, that, as INIT puts it, is „some kind of old photo from an old dry empty pool that got faded by sunlight “. A dreamy, sunny piece of song art, made for endless smoky LA freeway drives, and other adventures that seek for infinite riddance. You can dream it. You can trance it. You can’t escape it, as soon as it rotates in your dream device for sound and vision.

Her sound draws heavily from her marine biology background and passion for hydrofeminism, creating sets that overflow with underwater atmospheres. Crafted with emotion, texture, and flow, her distinct style resonates through dreamy, washed-out, algae-like relaxing layers or the rough, choppy sounds of IDM, Bass and Jungle. Currently the executive producer of co:clear & co-founder alongside Slowfoam of a new label Gravity Pleasure, slyn has been playing in cities such as Berlin, London & Amsterdam.

“This is a picture I snapped on a recent hike (very close but lucky safe from the Altadena wildfire destruction zone). The tangly dense vines hugging around a grove of trees symbolize to me an ecosystem free from the stains of humankind. In this set, I imagined the sounds of before, during, and after the Anthropocene. This set was cathartic because, in the process of layering these sounds, I reflected on feelings of climate grief and solastalgia. I hope you are able to listen on a walk or somewhere quiet 🍃”

Mary Lake: a sonic adventurer. With an international upbringing in Algeria, France and The Netherlands, she seeks a voice through her music, translating inner dynamics in both club and exploratory settings.

Hot seducers. Two of them. On one 7inch. A/B Side business, hard to choose a fav, as both so fab. The A-Side is called “Happen”. It comes from prolific Tokyo based DJ and producer Hoshina Anniversary. A simple drum machine groove, a manic melody, witching siren sounds, psychedelic voices, some soft chords, and soulful high-pitched singing, somewhere between Dam-Funk coolness and Ian Svenonius- The-Make-Up sixties pop longing. One for warm sexy nights under neon lights. Out there in psychic realms. The flip brings a Dolphins interpretation. Yes, that feverish trio behind R.i.O., consisting of Nadia D'Alò, Benedikt Frey and Menqui. Their freshly recorded version comes with haunting nonchalant singing, displaying the tunes core melody as a more prominent actor of the play. Michael-Mann-Pop- Nostalgia with a baroque touch, that waves dark-ish. Even some Jon Hassle feeling is in there. Hoshina Anniversary disclosed, that the original song is inspired by jazz musicians like Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius and Keith Jarrett. None of them is directly stylistically audible. But their kind of blue is all over. On the A as well as on the B. Twice soul music for the free.

Episode 61 was transmitted June 2025 and is one hour of dark music from (dark) ambient to more doom and ritual kind of soundscapes...

Faru is a Berlin-based musician, designer and explorer. He is crafting Drone and Ambient music from his nature recordings from around the world. His works have been described as a natural orchestra in a dream-like manner. Exploring movements of nature, noise and harmonics. Labels include Silent Season, Faint and Carpe Sonum (FAX)

About the mix he said:
"This hybrid mix drifts through layers of sound that feel like half-remembered dreams and moments suspended between past and present. It carries a sense of nostalgia, of looking back at places and times that still echo somewhere within. The sounds paint old memories into focus, though never quite as they were. Sometimes blurred, sometimes distorted, always shaped by the way we remember them as individuals. Textures and gentle warmth intertwine, like memories fading in and out of view. It’s music for reflection, for wandering through old feelings, and for revisiting those fragments of time that never completely leave us."
