Where Did They All Go?

Done in 6/8 rather than common time, I was pretty pleased with the outcome of this song.  I use a little more synth on it including using a synthesized bassoon sound instead of my electric bass guitar.  I thought my transitions came out really well and when I added the synth, it pulled the bridge in.  Before adding the synth, the bridge sounded like it belonged in an entirely different song because the tempo change, rhythm change, and chord progression pattern change were just a bit too much.   

I redid the vocals on Sunday, 2-2-14 to be better enunciated. Slightly remixed the vocals as well.

I wrote, played, recorded, mixed, and mastered this for week 5 of the Weeklybeats.com competition.  I will probably redo my singing at some point because there are a couple places that need better enunciation, but to make the deadline and spend time with my family I'm going to leave it be for now.

He Can't Remember

This was a slightly weaker weekly song, I thought.  But I did have some decent guitar work and it isn't bad.  I used my younger son's Loog cigar box style guitar for the intro/outro.  The rest is my epiphone electric which is a Strat knockoff.

I sang it once with way too much twang in my voice and then when I sang a different take, I couldn't get the twang out of my voice.

Just a quick ditty about our planet.  The only one near us that will sustain life.  And a quick hat tip to the late, great George Carlin.

I read something about an environmental song competition.  I don't have the link handy, but I wrote this one in the off chance that I decide to blow $25 USD to enter the challenge.  I broke out the electric guitar for this one.  Some of my other songs this year probably sound like they have electric guitar, but they were really just an acoustic with a lot of effects.  This one still has the acoustic for the rhythm part, though.  I didn't break out the electric bass guitar,  I simulated it with a bass synth.  I used the built in Impact drums from Presonus Studio One and programmed a basic rock backbeat and then added some flair on some of them for periodic fills.
