Tan Taigi was a haiku poet of the Edo period. He was a wanderer for most of his life and admired by Yosa Buson for his ability to transcend his eclectic and unconventional lifestyle with sublime poetry.

Kiche returns to MONTAGE with his first full-length album. As we’re used to with Kiche, the music is giddy, danceable and gleeful but also charged with emotions. Last Day Of School tracks that final feeling of the end of the year.

Ismaël Iken, aka Kiche, creates a conceptual vision without the heavy art-lingo: school is ending, maybe your parents are loading the car to go camping. You say goodbye to your friends and enter the sweet summer bliss. As such, the school theme serves as the background for the more abstract and sculptural elements of Kiche’s work. Digitally synthesized sounds float through cloudy thoughts on a dewy morning. The album features a couple interludes, which take us further into this daydreaming territory. Soft sounds frolic around as the scribbles on the side of your notes.

Last Day Of School is a beautiful piece of music that brings a very specific sound to experimental dance music. Enough of the post-apocalyptic angry deconstructed bro energy, Kiche makes experimental music for 𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘫𝘦𝘴 like us.
